*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

as someone who has a full Ubiquiti setup, you’ll just have to trust me when I say costs can escalate quickly :p
Im poor currently, doing renovations, so I'll keep it simple. Some floors are in the middle of the house, so I'll throw in some double cat 6 run and terminate them later. Will be handy for any ceiling or wall mounted APs when needed in the future.

I'm planning to do the same in future. Want a 10G link between my two core switches. Did you buy pre-terminated fibre?
I was running 10 Gbps before, but I had to recrimp one of the ends and the cable was too short.

I got these:

Probably cheaper to get FS stuff but I was already making an order from the UI store.

I'd be looking at MM rather than SM internally, as it's a lot cheaper.

It's definitely addictive, from the ISP default router I just wanted a couple of cameras and a poe switch. Now my setup rivals the one we use at work.
I had to be very strict with myself and settle on 2.5gb being my fastest connection rather than going all out with 10gb though.
And not spending on every single upgrade is hard sometimes.

True @RSR, it’s done now and I can go for miles if I want to. :)

Looking at the USW-Pro-HD-24-PoE to replace my loft aggregation and USW-Enterprise-8-PoE. Nice to have one device to do both jobs and it will sit nicely in the rack.

I'd hold fire and wait for the new XG line if you can, as they should release them shortly.

Also, UWC is due next month, so we may see all sorts of new products.

The troughput is pretty limited with OpenVPN, on most appliances. Nord. don't offer a config file for WireGuard.
You can extract the Nord WG VPN config, its easy. Many guides online. Can then use on other clients, including Unifi.

Too late, already ordered.

USW-Pro-HD-24-PoE arrived, it's a beast - biggest UniFi switch I've had my hands on and weights a fair amount. Nice and quiet at idle so far. Got it racked up and starting the move over of cabling, will take a bit of time as I'm trying to keep it as neat as possible.

Any idea of when they will bring out something like the U6 Extender as U7 Extender at all ? Got a slight dead spot of the fringe bit of my house. However using a TP Link extender which works well however want to change it over to to all Unifi gear. Cheers

Ah I didn't know that. I assumed they used some sort of custom protocol, like thier website says they do. And that was why they don't offer a config file.

The extender never made it as far as having a UK plug on. You can mesh any of their APs as long as you can get power to them, maybe one of the wall mount units would work for you.

Good shout. I’ll have a little think, but immediately thought a plug in solution to replace like for like. I could convert the socket to take a wall mount AP

Was having a right faff with my IoT stuff on the 2.4Ghz network on the UDR7. Was showing as broadcasting but nothing was connecting and was not on the SSID list on my phone.

Solved by ticking hide the network, apply, and then unhide.

Seems to be a fairly common issue with the 2.4Ghz network collapsing. I had it on my U6 Pro and I've read of quite a few people having issues with the U7 series. You're the first to provide a possible solution though!
