******Official War Thunder Thread*******

I was on last night, although only around 10 - 11:30ish. May be on again tonight, if I get my bike fixed up in time. :p

What's the best battle rating line-up you can roll with?

My Brokenfighter says hello, but denies being in any way broken:

Broken?!

Nah, that's what it's SUPPOSED to do! Its the rest of the planes that are broken (PO2).

Comming soon to a War Thunder airfield near you:

Word is the RAF already have these. Boycey should start learning how to tinker with the avionics if he's gonna make Admiral Aircraft Technician or whatever it is he becomes :D

In b4 you moan about it being too OP in the russian tree, and spangles moaning cos he wants it but doesn't want to play russians :p

Right chaps, off for a few days for Sarahs Nanas funeral. Will be back late Saturday night so will be in the skies Sunday hopefully.

Miss you all, take care of each other and be harmonious.

Unlocked my first spitfire after a brillinat game in the Beaufighter and Hurricane in arcade.

Though I really need to max out the reload skills so those cannons don't run dry so quickly

Now I've got out of the T1 brits, I'm starting to enjoy them - a lot.

Also really enjoying throwing the 2 Corsairs about, really nice boom and zoomers

Wait until you get the spit IIb. Tier 2, BR3.7 and can hold its own right up to just before jet level......

I have found a way to score 45,000 + lions in each battle, and have a lot more fun than I do in tank battle grinds. Plus, they're doing the classic thing of asking for aaaages of your time to get BAD premium vehicles. T26? Are you kidding? Hows about a T34-85? Or even a T-50? They're nice! I might grind for those. But U have a premium T26 already, and its a dog. Why would I spend ages grinding for another?
Plus, they fail to realise the effects of the grind tasks. We end up sick of playing the game after too much.

Not for me this time, chaps. I'll stick to my planes.
Love and hugs xoxo

I vastly prefer planes too, I only ever touch tanks when the other guys want to. I do have fun when playing in a group with them, but planes are much more interesting to me.

Time to purchase a joystick me thinks.

After ranking up to level 44 with a mouse I feel as though i'm missing out a tad and improving my skills.

I've seen a Thrustmaster T.16000M for £49 so far. Can it be had cheaper? (not asking for links here, i'll search myself but for a more basic joystick it seems rather expensive & hard to get hold of)

Ok, after rage quittting the Wargaming.net family games to many times to the point of utter and incredulity and complete loss of hope for the human race I have decided to come over to the other other side and see how the grass sits!

I've had War Thunder installed for some months but have only put an hour or so into it but have decided to give it a proper go.

Are there any tips for a relative newbie particularly one jaded and washed out by the WoT:WoWp experience. I do remember finding the interface and research trees a little counter-intutive at the time (but that might have been WoT goggles at fault).

So OcUK WT gurus where do I begin? :D

Go Russian. Russian is your friend. :p

WT used to be relatively simple, but now they've made the matchmaking system much more complex, so if you don't sort your plane line-ups out to be quite even, you'll be in for a world of pain bringing biplanes against cannon-armed monoplanes.

In general, you want to be researching stuff across the trees rather than straight down, and keep a close eye on what Battle Rating (BR) a plane has. Some variants of the same plane have huge differences, and it's this stat which decides how tough the enemies you're facing are.

Reserve - 1.0 = biplanes and very early monoplanes
1.3-2.0 = fun early monoplanes, early spit and hurricane, occasionally a cannon armed plane
2.3 - 3.0 = Still fun, able to wipe out early planes in a single brief burst as you start to see multiple cannons and/or 6x .50 cal machine guns in planes. P47, P40, Beaufighter, IL-2 kinda territory.

Find the OcUK squadron in the game if you want, and apply to join - we're around on teamspeak as well, and can offer advice / general tips.

Can't think of any other advice that Matt hasn't already said!

Apart from if you get the time to put into it I'd advise against only putting all your effort into one country, each one has its strengths and weaknesses at various levels IMO so its easier to adapt to different tactics etc.

Oh and now is probably a good time to join the squad as we have had quite a few new members relatively low teir recently, which is always good as theres more people to play with!
