The pointless gimmick that I already have 12 freaking MILLION of and no intention to ever spend any of?

(Begbie - welcome to the madness of the OcUK squadron, I'm sure we'll get you in soon. Don't worry about the gripes from some of us old hands, it's just regarding changes that the publisher is making which are very short-sighted and greedy in most people's opinion)

Well, it is War Thunder night tonight - so avail yourself of the OcUK teamspeak server details, and hopefully a mic and find some of us lot kicking around. Also beer. Beer is very much required.

I'm sure we can bring our tank or plane battle ratings down to around the 2.0 - 2.3 mark to join in some battles with you, eh guys? :p :D

(My M8A1 is feeling lonely. It needs fresh meat to feed its' mighty cannon!)

What, you think they were going to give you GOLDEN EAGLE boosts or something? Or free planes?
No no no, Mr.daily-player, to you is gifted "mighty" gifts like CRP boosts of 50% and SL boosts of 10%! Because they don't really care about you. They care about lovely blokes like Begbie there, who are starting the game and need to scrape every eagle they can to stay competitive.
Not the battle hardened diehard with all of the rare planes that it took weeks to grind for, sometimes pulling off near-superhuman feats to get (Multiple battles on the winning side, AND IN FIRST PLACE, anyone?). You don't need Gaijin-sans help. You're on your own. So here, have some worthless Convertible Research Points and shut up.

FYI people, Mr. Matt_FSR kindly spotted a new IL2 that slipped my attention in the new patch. It's 2.7BR and has 20mms, but could be a nice little low-level killing machine.
 
sounds horrendous, fingers crossed they remove it soon!

Oh and forgot to say thanks to Brain for picking me up the Gladiator, cheers mate been a bit busy and forgot all about it.

The vast majority of it was with the M4A2 76mm (W) - which in my opinion is possibly one of the best tanks in the game, and certainly perhaps the best at its' battle rating of 5.0

It's a fast tank. Not just fast to move around, but the turret spins ridiculously fast for a tank at its' level, so you can often line up and get that critical first shot in. Reload time is pretty fast, so anyone who misses you with their shot or fails to damage you is facing another incoming shot very quickly. There's been times where I've taken on 2 tanks from in cover, swapping shots between each and keeping them both pinned until I was able to land accurate kill shots on them to finish them off, without them being able to return fire on me simply because of how fast I could lob shells at them!

Armour-wise its' stats aren't fantastic but it seems to do a very good job of bouncing quite a few shots or just getting damaged rather than straight-up knocked out.

Get a lineup of the M4A2 76, M4A1 76, and M6A1 and you're well suited to dishing out a lot of pain, and making Pz4's weep! :D

So, favourite tanks so far? If you had to pick up to 2 for each country what would it be?

I'm only up to researching the first 76mm M4 for US so my experience is limited but I'd say the Grant for its rating. The M4 and M4A1 are just poop imo.

For Germany I'd say Panther G and Panzer IV H, the latter being a really great all-rounder.

For Russian I haven't even got a T34 yet, so I don't really know ;)
 
Best? Well Germany can have both the tiger 2's in the same lineup so that's good for double trouble, failing that t34 85 and kv85 for the armour, Americans at 3.7 is chaffee and m4, haven't got a best 2 higher that that!
 
'Murica - M4A2 76mm, M41 Walker Buldog

Deutschland - Panther G, Tiger II

Mother Russia - T34/85, IS2

^ That's only taking into account what I have of course.
 
The heck with the handling of the J7w1. Can't really outrun anything. Can't really climb. Follows a straight line when turning. Lucky shot cannons. Why is this plane so high in BR and why does it cost soo much?

It is a beast if you use it as a BnZ plane.It can climb really fast and is quite maneuverable in a dive and them cannons are one of the best in the game imo.

Essex, you can ONLY use it as a BNZ plane.
I love that design, so I jumped on the research the second I could, and have had it for months. But the thing is almost unusable.
Yeah, sure, if someone is directly in your sights and stays still for a bit, you can pile about 50kg of lead into them in 5 secs.
But the second they move, dodge, or someone starts to hunt you and YOU have to move and dodge, it's instantly game over.

The only trick it has is to run away, and it can only do this if it is already very high. But the problem with that is you are diving down into where the enemy planes are most dense! So if the guy chasing you doesn't kill you, one of his mates down low will with a pot shot. A pot shot you can't dodge.

That plane is dog-. It's the biggest disappointment I've come across in the game, bar none.

Did you just move on to the Kikka instead of finishing it? I've unlocked the Ki-84 Hei beside it so have something to level with if any beasty planes are about.

Yeah I've found that even outrunning people you have to get a headstart, even the fw 190's are catching up to me (and I'm not firing my guns so it's not that I'm slowing down). My gosh the IP required to unlock anything for it. :eek:
