They appear to have given it a one-way ticket to Katyn forest, and put a quick 9mm in the back of its' head.
At the moment, I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
There's now in place a system whereby if you login to the game every day, you get some kind of 'random' reward (im always suspicious of random) - yesterday I think I got an extra 10% on overall research, today I got 30% extra on Silver Lions.
Key thing - These bonuses get 'better' each consecutive day you login to War Thunder.
I don't know if that bonus 10% was actually working, as it didn't show up on anything after battles, and I don't know if that 10% carries over to today or not. 30% more lions is worthless to me, as I have millions of them spare.
However, there are apparently chances to get up to 500% RP bonuses, so if I ever do get a one of those I'll be considering a last-minute holiday from work and sticking my high-level stuff in and bagging some jets and a Maus via an epic War Thunder session!
But - we don't seem to have been given any indication of how likely it is to get one of the better rewards, so all we can do is see how it pans out. I forsee a LOT of abuse of this system though, as I can login to WT at work on a lunchbreak, so I could feasibly also login to several other people's WT accounts to get them that day's "progress".
Did they think this one through properly?

They bonuses appear in the inventory and you have to activate them (at least for some of them). The inventory is in between the shop icon and premium icon in the top right.
They have probably done it so that instead of people logging in and playing 1 or 2 games to get the x2, they have to play several games to get the same benefit or to actually use up the bonus they got.

So I'm just ballin', shootin' fools and havin' lots of fun in my T34-85 in the RB no HUD battles. And this dude thinks he can come put some 37mm cannon rounds into me.
Now, I'm one for an even discussion, but I'm not a math wiz, so I waits for him to ping off a couple more 37mms, then reply with an 85mm, coz thats about even in maths, right?
(TIP: You're going to need a wide screen for this)

Now if only Matt or Hellcat would teach me to use FRAPS...

Top Speed of the Maus is 13mph, it's going to be 5 minutes before you even get close to shooting another tank.

With a good net connection, running about 1.6Mb/s, you're looking at between 15-25 minutes, matey.
Call it half an hour with a touch of variation. Obviously, this increases with drops in network speed.
Had a patchlet the day after too, but was only 1min download.
Might be another to come as I had the new JU87 D5 engine noises fail on me lastnight. Something dodgy going on there.

There was definitely something funky going on with planes last night, I just seemed to lose all control and ditch them into the floor... although the reported 100% packet loss at the time may have contributed 
Bought a cheapy router to see if it makes anything better, I'll be testing that out tonight.
On another note, there should be a GTX970 waiting at home for me tonight!

It's prob a nogo as steam cancelled 9gb of my install when the new patch came out so I had to start over

It was 1 battle.
However, it has disappeared from my inventory.

Absolutely! And I'm a bit
about it really.Firstly, they took away the weekend x5 daily bonuses, which were a nice way to get some (relatively) decent progress, especially at lower levels. Now they've removed the x2 bonuses and replaced it with this random garbage.
Bad points:
- It's random. Random = you have no idea if it is, or isnt random.
- You have to login every day to have a chance of getting the better rewards
- Rewards appear in an inventory, which wasn't clear to me even as a long-time WT player. I presumed they acted automatically.
- Rewards have a 'shelf life' and expire after varying times if not used, again another 'random' feature
- Rewards for extra silver lions are 100% pointless to me, and many others
- Rewards don't last long - some are for a single battle, and some last only 10 or 20 battles depending on the value of the reward it seems.
Yes, the x2 was frustrating when you would aim to gain a lot of tank research in a match, and you'd get 1-shotted and bombed into oblivion. But then you'd change nation and do better in another game and get a decent bit of reward.
Now, with no certainty of getting any decent reward I'm less inclined to play a couple of matches just for the bonuses and RP gain, so I'll probably end up restricting most of my gameplay to around the 5.0BR area max, as the grind for anything higher has just become pants-on-head-retarded.

Matt I'm just waiting for the "Here's the new ultimate one shot ammo type that costs 50 golden eagles... oh and in the name of realism, every other ammo now has reduced damage stats.... cause thats really what it was like y'know... we're Gaijin"
