I've decided that for RB the best British plane is the premium Hellcat. If anyone is starting out with British, grab this plane and grind your research. It's a very very good all-rounder.

I have found it to be an excellent light bimmer, but the smegging thing dies on its feet at even the sniff of an enemy fighter. Although, that said, I haven't used it in RB in some time, and we know they've updated a lot of things in the last 4 months. Maybe I'll give it another shot tonight :)

I am deadly serious :D It's a very stable aircraft and it can take a pretty good amount of punishment, has ok climb rate and performance which doesn't deteriorate too much at altitude. Turn rate is satisfactory (it seems to out-turn a 109 and P47 when I fight them). It can also carry 2 x 1000lb AND 6 rockets. It performs ok with the rockets still strapped to it, I can confirm this ;) Firepower of 6 x .50 cal is quite sufficient for pretty much everything but heavy bombers.
 
Slowly getting better with the P51-D. I am determined to learn how to fly the thing and be good with it, I am find myself fine with most Brit planes but I must master one of the US planes, surely.

Just seen the RP notes for patch 1.39, reduced rp cost all over, looks like it should be a more enjoyable grind soon!

In other news, my return is imminent, look forward to some ga!ing soon.
 
So close to unlocking that second P51 now! Should have it done this evening. Then I have the finest prop aircraft the US line up have. The Bearcat is tempting but what with my inability to fly a Corsair well, it will take some time to get that unlocked.

I reckon I could have the Liberator by next weekend if I really push for it. I want a jet though. The whole B17 style I am playing is really helping to research things. Also means I can spend lions all over the place and get them back nice and quick :)
 
New player here but a bit confused. My 1st plane seems to struggle with going down, its always going up. I have a joystick (logitech 3dx) so a little confused. Any tips to stop this happening?
