******Official War Thunder Thread*******

Too right matt its a huge letdown being that high in the tiers for what it is.

On another note as we were discussing the BR and MM thingy, here is the official link from Gaijin

https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?showtopic=125109

Reading that I still reckon its horse****, we have all seen how borked it can be.

It is *fairly* accurate, but what it means in practice is that a badly performing player can gimp his lineup by sticking in 1 high-rated BR plane, like a B17, and end up with it in a match with my 3.7 planes. Granted, it doesn't mean B17 spammage, but it means you're facing nearly unkillable bombers, which may be maxed out on bombload, with little chance of killing them unless they're stupid enough to dive, or you're bringing Yak9's to the table.

My feeling, as well as seemingly a lot of the WT forum members, is simply that the basic BR spread (1.3) is far too wide. I'd much rather wait a bit longer, and fight similar planes, than be dropped into a match within 15 seconds, but end up facing stuff much higher.

Also, how bad does this make the game for beginners??!? As soon as they get their first 2.3 BR plane, without upgrades, (think Hurricane Mk2b) they get dumped into some matches where they're seeing 3.7 BR planes packing 20mm cannons, rockets, and a few 37mm insta-kill planes. Hardly fair, or fun, and I can only see it driving people away.

Also, tomorrow this!!

I'll gauge interest on here as to whether to cancel my plans for tomorrow evening or not, if there are a few people wanting to play then i'll be in too, would be good if we did some low tier seal clubbing and got everyone in!

Don't think I'll have a lot of time by the time I get in from archery tonight and have my tea, but I may be on. I'm no entirely sure this method will improve gameplay.... i.e. camp and snipe 3 tanks before you can fly a plane to bomb tanks.... but we'll have to see! :p

The American P51 is quite good in realistic battles. It performs really well at high altitude, which is normally where it fought the enemy as it would have been high up to start with in any engagements due to it's fantastic ability to escort bombers for long distances.

The performance of the plane does not really drop when you are around 20,000ft where other planes struggle.

So for arcade, yeah, it's poop, but in realistic, if you take the time to climb, then you have the upper hand over many opponents.

I suppose I like it because I tend to climb to 5K plus and chase bombers and then dive on people with it, boom and zoom basically, only the P51 isn't so much true boom and zoom like a BF109 F4+ or an FW190 simply because it lacks the fire power to obliterate the target in 1 pass, quite often you need to either tail them or energy fight, making passes on them.

I think it turns pretty well actually, but it depends what you compare it to, compared to an FW190 it does but compared to a Spitfire or a Zero ...it doesn't. I actually said to Boycey and Kwango at the weekend when we were playing and I was playing the British in honour of the Battle of Britain, how I found the turning speed and agility of the Spitfire almost a little unnerving after flying German and American stuff so much :p

I'm gonna come on tonight and totally teamkill Boyc... I mean... Erm... Have a fantastic time flying with you all again after being away for so long! Yeah!
And definitely NO teamkilling Boycey... I wouldnt do that...

Spangles, Matt and Hellcat, on the other hand.

And Kwango.

And Kutter.

And Essex x2.

And myself.

Are you kidding me?? Literally just arranged to go out :( Should make it later though

Gonna redownload this, can't remember how you buy airecraft though.

Or you can empty your wallet and thrust it lovingly in Gaijin's face in exchange for planes, although without the actual game experience to fly them, you probably won't enjoy it much.

Tip: If you haven't setup an account before, take your first nation as Russia. Each nation gets a free premium biplane... belonging to the first nation you start off as - other nations are OK, the Russian one is amazeballz! :D

see this quite a bit, folks with all the planes and countries maxxed out but absolutely no idea how to fly them. you can pay to buy planes, but you can't really pay to win in this game.....experience counts for a lot. if you haven't taken the time to learn how to fly the planes you're gonna get found out eventually. most of us on here having been playing for quite a while and are still learning!!! (especially me :p)

Ok, so I did an internet, and here was the results:
