Personally I waited until I got my first tier 10 (my IS7) before I joined a clan, but these days it's fine to join at tier 5, though I'd recommend knuckling down and pushing to a tier 6 asap, then to tier 8 for both tier 6 and tier 8 companies, which we play the most.
 
I've got a T6 jumbo sherman, but I'm not sure I should have got it. The derp cannon factor is lost in some of matches it gets put in, and the extra armour doesn't help much, and you lose most of the m4's mobility.

yea I'm slowly leveling mine but generally only play it when it has a win multiplier :S

It's far from the worst tank to grind past though my other pet project right now is the french B1 and I reckon its even worse than the amx40 was :S

The Jumbo was amazing up until premium ammo became available to the masses. Now it's pretty much pointless.

Got called a noob by 4 people for saying "we would have won if arty would have killed the at7 behind the enemy base"
I ping targeted him about 10 x whilst he was stopping 4 people from capping....our arty had about 2 minutes in which he could have killed the guy.....

Arty was probably in a platoon with the people who called me noob and as always only covering his friends even if it means a lost game...
 
^^ Yeah I've given up with these players. I tried to get my doubles last night - ended up winning 2 out of 10 and I gave up in frustration. 3-5k damage per battle and plenty of kills to help the team but it seems that if I don't actually kill all 15 then I don't stand a cat in hells chance of winning these days. 7 straight losses in my E100 - loss after loss after loss.

Looking at the teams, I've got all the red players and the opposition have 2 or 3 - hardly fair. It the equivilent of pitting the US Armies elite soldiers agains't some part time force from outer mongolia -not a chance and I know it from the start but I continue in the vein hope some miracle is pulled off. May as well just drive into the nearest lake and move onto the next bunch of retards tbh.

I think one of the problems is I jump on and play solo just to try and get my doubles - gonna have to stop doing that.

EDIT: Much more into War Thunder now, the players don't seem so idiotic (maybe 3 dimensions is too much for these slack jawed retards!) and even if you do lose, the scoring system there rewards you for YOUR actions not those of your team - which makes much more sense to me. Why get punished for playing with complete jelly brains. If WoT was the same and rewarded you for playing well with a 'team bonus' for winning as well I would not be so frustrated with it. But as it stands, you can get 9 kills and still lose and get crap XP, credits and completely shaft your ratios to boot.

Sorry to say this, but don't get too excited. Gold ammo has made the slow armoured HTs a lot less fun. People just tend to load gold and shoot straight through your upper glacis.

WoT seems to be all about fast meds now with the adage - just don't get hit !

Since gold ammo the day of the armoured HT rolling up at the front line to push through is over.
 
yea I definitely had a lot more fun wtih the type58/type59 than I have in any of the heavies....

I tried the light tanks and got the the wz 131 or whatever its called but seemed like it would take an eternity of grinding to get the 132 that looks barely an upgrade :S

Might rebuy the panther 2 or something but its probably **** compared to whatever totally OP unbalanced russian death trap the russian devs have decided are the best tanks ever made.

8.5 is out now. Don't know if i can be bothered playing the 3002DB again to unlock the new Indien Panzer T8 med, 20k on that thing to unlock the Panther was hell never mind the 80k needed for the new one.
 
Patch 8.5 is meant to be changing the MM settings for a bunch of light tanks as well, like the Type 62 is no longer classified as a scout so it'll only see Tier 9 games where it can pen pretty much every tanks side and back with it's 145 pen. I'd love to get up to the wz131 as it's the same tank with a better gun and engine option :)
 
Can you transfer gold to people? I'm bored of the grind now so don't play anymore so am happy to give it away. If ALL experience from tanks went into a pool allowing you to buy tanks you actually like than I would enjoy it, but I gave up having to try the AMX40 getting the ELC French light tank. I enjoy playing the Hellcat I took ages to unlock and Elite out, but the game forces me to play a tank I hate (AMX40) to grind up to the next level (free experience is too small). I much prefer the League of Legends style points system where you have a pool of points and can unlock other champions from your pool of points instead of having to grind up through tiers. It means I can play a champion I like to unlock a new one instead of playing the game in a tank I really dont enjoy, feel like it is work and lose interest. Games should be fun.
 
I wonder why they do that? Maybe it's to pursuade people to put money in, convert free xp and skip the tanks you don't like! I know I'm guilty of it in the past when I enjoyed the game.

No it's not possible to give gold away, but you could give your account away if you wanted or try to sell it, although War Gaming don't like that idea - they'd be missing out on someone else putting more money into the game.

It's a little dissapointing to be honest. I took ages getting the Hellcat max'd out but am now forced to play a tank I do not enjoy to get to it's next level. I don't have the time to grind for hours each week so for the casual player it's a pretty non-deal really.
 
Yup, unless you stick cash in and convert xp a casual gamer doens't stand much of a chance with the grind. These days I just jump in to the game to get my doubles (if I can be bothered) and even then the teams make it a tough ride to get wins and it only seems to be getting worse.
 
Been looking on the eshoreline auction site recently and there are a few trying to sell their accounts that crop up every now and again. There was one with a start price of £100 and a buy it now of £300 which I dont think anyone did.

Thats what I generally do although I sometimes platoon with my brother but the ingame chat doesnt work too well on my PC. Could do with a free one we both can use.

Although saying that other night had 5 straight wins.

Wonder what 8.5 will bring to the table. (dont mean patch wise but noobiness wise)
 
Well, if you're looking for voice solutions other than in-game which really does suck - you are more than welcome to join my mumble server and find an empty channel with your brother. I'm admin there so no-one should hassle you.

Alternatively, some more kind follks from this very thread have set up a TS channel. I'm sure they won't mind you popping on there - if thats the case the choice is yours.

EDIT I can post mumble details when I get home from work.
