** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Well, In the last few months I semi-quit the game (Lets face it, you never fully quit) and *ahem* Sold my 700k Gold on my main toon. Me & a friend were interested in re-rolling and completely starting fresh on a new server.

I'd raided at top tiers and got Gladiator on my Priest so was lacking things to do & I personally hate alts.

We'd be changing server with no gold, no outside help & no heirloom items with the aim to experience the game from another PoV. BUT! I can't decide on rolling Shaman or Warlock. I've always wanted a Enhancement Shaman as a main since raiding as one in WOTLK but Warlocks really do appeal to me in other ways.

Could anyone playing either/both give me some insight on why you enjoy your class?

Cheers!

Apologies for the self-quote but has anyone got any thoughts on this?

I'm not really sure how to answer you, i find my shaman fun but i'm not at endgame yet.

Shamans bring a lot of versatility and utility aswell as great pvp healing healign as resto, enhancement is competetive dps, okay perhaps not in the top5 but it's better than it has been, and i understand it's pretty fun.

it depends on what you want to do really, with a warlock you're really just limited to being a ranged dps, albeit with different styles of ranged gameplay coming with the different talent trees.

Whereas with the shaman being a hybrid it gives you more versatility should you become bored with one aspect of the game.

i do have a warlock aswell but i've never really found it amazingly fun bar dpsing in ulduar.

enhance shammy is one of the most fun classes ive played.

Nice rotation, great for movement fights with instant ghostwolf, only real issue is a lack of real aoe pwnage.

The changes they made to fire nova whilst nice still make it a very frustrating class for aoe, but for single target nukage or small groups where chain lightining can get em all its great.

Warlock is the ony char which i havent levelled to 85 yet so am not the best to comment on those.

If you accrued 700k gold and got Gladiator, then you've probably got more experience than pretty much everyone in this thread. Surely you'd be able to decent between shaman and lock yourself? (Since it is mostly personal preference anyway.)

Not really sure that anyone can answer it for you.

I've played end game on lots of classes, including server firsts. I've reached a high rating (in threes) on a Priest, a Rogue, a Warrior and now just gotten a high rating Druid (definitely FOTM!). But whether or not you'd enjoy it I can't say. Do you want to pvp or pve? My favourite char is still my priest, but it's irritating what they've done to us. Granted killing a disc priest is incredibly difficult, but they've all but destroyed our capability to dps, so it narrows your play style.

Edit: Personally PvE has lost any interest for me now. The fights aren't particularly engaging any more and 4.2 feels rushed to me.

Edit2: Why do I enjoy my class? Well I enjoy the priest still because in mostly Vicious gear/increasing Ruthless gear I'm able to control games (threes) and its still a bloody challenge as you creep up the ratings.

My druid is just bloody good fun (at the moment).

Auction house gambling doesn't make you all knowledgeable about classes and mechanics, nor does PVP whoring.

In response to the original question though, Warlock atm is mega fun, I last played when Destro was on top but now its all changed, very fun class. I only don't play it because I'm gearing my sPriest.

Don't get me wrong, I have at some poin in time played all the classes and know all their respective skills and playstyles. However I never mained either of those classes so was looking for outside opinions.

I like the playstyle of shamans, but its often hard to complete on the damage/healing with players of equal skill/gear :|

I'm not sure what exactly you like in WoW, but that is one aspect of the game I enjoy.

Nah, falsehood.

Granted, have wads of gold doesn't guarantee game knowledge, but anyone who hits up arenas often enough to get gladiator is gonna have a lot more knowledge of other classes than your average raider.

either better gear or gear choices, unlike hybrids you dont get hit from spirit so your preference up until 17% spell hit (raiding cap) is to prioritise hit, ibelieve

I feel ashamed of posting in here:( i'm only a level 12 Human Paly:(

Any tips would be great?

Haven't play for a while.

Try to get into a high ranked social guild, their perks will speed up your levelling :) Such as 10% extra experience gained from quests, 5% extra money picked up from looting mobs etc.

Ask in trade chat for any social levelling guilds

Cheers, but is it safe? I've heard the horror stories about hacking etc.

Cheers for the reply.

Dave.
