** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Just done the new dungeon in MoP that got opened (the brewery), healed it on a resto druid and holy priest

Must say it was fun, few simple mechanics, but made it even funner (1 boss you had to roll beer barrels :D)

Aye, it's quite fun, i'm actually loving monk healing atm, quite different.

Sha of doubt can be of a pain in the ass, but it's still quite fun, people just need to not suck at dps and stack.

I haven't tried monk yet (haven't even specced him :p), but I know Sha of Doubt can be a right pain

Since i was milling earlier, i have finished a while ago but now i need to craft things with the results.

I got enough inferno ink for two darkmoon decks (filled in a couple of missing ones with bought cards from ah) and i have 730 blackfallow ink left.

Now if i turn that ink into all fortune cards and into cookies, i stand to make about 10k from those alone, and about 5k each for the decks (conservative estimate) which is more than a 100% return in profit on what i spent on herbs for milling, if you have the money to start doing thing's like this, it's only a matter of time till you get a lot of money.

Then i also bought 60 epic gems for 50k, which is a bit below market price when i get them crafted and sold, i'd be looking at about 40k profit from those.

Some of the 67 epic gems i got cut yesterday sold in between 7.30 this morning when i placed the auctions and now when i'm checking auctions on train.

Stand to make a pretty penny on them.

Also sold a transmog item i had on ah for 8k on another character, not bad considering it cost me <300 to get it crafted.

There was a point in tbc (vanilla was much less forgiving on grinding :S) when i had to farm a lot of mats for crafting etc aswell, however at a certain point due to jewelcrafting and enchanting, i was able to increase my own profits from buying mats crafting and reselling, or just reselling.

Playing the ah has always been in wow and will likely remain.

More money then sense in WOW now

I remember having to grind hours on hours to buy stuff back in TBC to craft items :p

Try 2-3 weeks grinding elites for 4-5 hours per day in Tyr's Hand at level 60 just for your 800g epic mount ;). And that could only be done, of course, once you had reached a certain level of gear and skill, because those elites were not-killable by anyone in non-epic gear.

I love it when people try to hark back to the friendly casual TBC days as some sort of certificate of difficulty! How you were spoiled!

Ok ok ok so TBC was easy :P

I still remmber spending many hours and hours farming mining mats to get gold.

Biggest grind i did was for the tiger mount ((names slipped my mind) up near Mount Hyjal)

Took me 24 hours solid running back and forth killing mobs and do quests for a tiger mount but you dont see many of them :)

The Winterspring faction-exalted tiger definitely took longer than 24 hours to get in Vanilla. Try 2 months! I don't believe anyone ever did that in 24 hours :p Good try though! Even the Timbermaw Hold exalted grind for the Agility enchant took longer than 24 hours, and that was a nice little money-earner for raiding enchanters!

Winterspring Frostsaber? That was a long grind back in the day, it can be done very quickly now, especially with flying mounts.

I only knew one person to get it and he spent literally 2 months in Winterspring, logging in and out and running that grind. The mount wasn't even that nice looking :p It was a real labour of love! Definitely one of the rarer mounts on a server, along with the ZG tiger and raptor (which you normally only saw raid/guild leaders with).

Wintersaber yes of course it is.

I did it in WofLK so no flying mount, i know it was 2rep per kill but i was getting 12-13 so it took shorter.

Am close to having the Vial of sands this week :D

Heh, an incomparable grind compared to the Vanilla days! Sacrilege! Cannot compare it to being a mere level 60 w/ vanilla talents, severe lack of AoE on most classes, and a longer travel distance! It was an extremely long grind.

Another long grind, mount-wise, was the PvP mounts. Commander and up, Rank 11 required to be able to buy them. That's 2-3 months of your time doing 5-6 hour days in Battlegrounds. Great fun :D. Compare that to the Netherdrake grind in TBC, perhaps 2 weeks of your time in comparison... so easy!

Nah the netherdrake was more like 4 weeks doing dailies wasnt it ?

Then made a mockery that you could buy the rest once you had chosen your mount :p

1 of the hardest grinds for me was doing the pirates grind to get 50 exalted achievments, that was only 2 rep per kill and was so monoteus (sp)

never bothered to do Adrimal achievment for killing BB mobs.

I was one of the first people to have a netherdrake on the new TBC-launch servers, it's the first thing I did when I dinged 70 - after AoE grinding with my mage to max-level as fast as possible. The drake grind took me about 2 weeks. Daily quests were just the start of the grind, really; the rest of the time was spent doing a meticulous round-trip around all of the egg spawns every hour or so, on their respawn timer. I could still probably list all of the egg-spawn locations to you now, after having done it on another character in WotLK :p

Ah ok i didnt chase eggs if i saw 1 i got it but i didnt go looking

I did it on 2 chars as well took roughly the same time if i recall doing it that way

did you ever do the captain skyride race, i waited till WofLK, that was hard TBC.........

Winterspring Frostsaber? Is it still available? I am currently grinding the Skycatcher's rep to get the Mantaray in TBC. Using my lvl85 DK to try and collect mounts and rep with factions previously overlooked.

I did it yeah, it was very hard but rewarded a nice rep boost. Took about 3 hours of practice and learning where to cut corners, though :p
