The hit caps for mages (and other casters) at 85 are:

5% for PvP
6% for 5 Mans (including Heroic 5 Mans)
17% for Raids

peterattheboro, a good item for getting to the hit cap is Stump of Time from the TB dailies. It'd replace your blue trinket.

Isn't it 8% for raids and 17% only if you're dual wielding?

Me.

Toying with the idea of going back and trying the raiding, but there are a few reasons holding me back:

a) Going into the final year of Uni and I don't know if i'll have the time to dedicate to the game.
b) OcUK's new guild went PvP.
c) People (generally) suck. I'm sure you guys are all nice but sadly, you're in the minority. I've been in WoW since 2004 and just about all my guild based experience was something akin to trying to converse on 4chan. Brain meltingly aaaaaaargh. :o

They are also generally bad at the game and good with numbers that's why I never really took much notice of them forums.

Also don't play any more.
 
I've only used them for stuff like gemming and reforging and researching stuff like that in detail. To be honest, a lot of it is stuff that is already common knowledge.
 
Finally some progress with my character.

I've posted recently about not being powerful enough but i've added a few items and tweaked a few things around and now i'm hitting about 14k DPS when it used to be about 10/11k. Happier now that I think i'm as good as I can be with my current gear.

Now to just replace my current gear with raid drops and i'll be very happy :)
 
Don't forget the T12 valor pieces and also the rest of the 365 firelands gear you can get from the Molten Front dailies. :)

Took down Shannox and Beth'tilac on Wednesday after the reset. Both seem like fairly easy fight unlike Lord Rhyolith who we are attempting tonight. Spent a couple of hours on him last weekend before the reset, but couldn't quite manage to get it right. Let's hope we can get him down today. And let's hope some tanking gear finally drops; we've downed 4 bosses and had like 4 healer pieces, one plate DPS piece and 3 mail pieces. :o

Are you talking 14k on a dummy, a raid or a 5 man there?

I'd think you'd probably be able to squeeze some more DPS out of your gear in honesty.

Lord Rhyolith is so easy now compared to when we tried to do him when Firelands was 1st released. Going to be much more relaxed when the 20% come in next week. :)

Ahh I love the tears of 'hardcore' players who have yet to down it on HC.
 
Thinking of xferring my UD warrior over. Any RBGs going within the guild? If so what rating? And do I need to make an app if I'm just applying as a PvP/social member? Ta!
 
I have started playing WoW a lot again recently and currently gearing up my main + 1 ALT (Have 7 85's and 3 81+, thanks to RaF going to 80)

Nah DB is still up and running, albeit very quiet these days. Raiding has taken a hit the last 6 weeks due to summer holls and what not. Indié has been MIA also which is a little concerning but the guild itself is still there and has not been disbanded. :)

Definitely, especially as arcane mage. Take a look at this to twiddle your rotation a bit, the intricacies are pretty complex but you should be able to find a simple, solid rotation which takes into account your buff procs (clearcasting, arcane mastery).

It's a shame about the Ban's Hammer raiding, had a fantastic time back in the day. I've actually rerolled on Argent Dawn, so if anyone knows of a good alliance guild for social levelling & future raiding potential with space for a prot warrior & resto druid, hit me up :)
