** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

aye, tbh I think thats like the borderline date. Anyone who isnt by that time will get /gkicked.

Personally I hope we start sooner. tbh I think I will be 85 by end of next week. I got all of next week off so loads of time to play and get it done. Then its just going to be a matter of getting geared for raiding. We shall see how it goes. My thoughts are they once people are at the point we can raid they will get the 10man teams running asap just to give those who are lagging a bit behind to catch up before we start 25mans.

Yea I know we'll be in 10mans within 7days. But 25man might be 2 weeks.

With the dungeon finder tho, you can just spam HCs all day and ngiht to get gear/points.

yea I'm still undecided on how to go about leveling yet tbh. Not sure if I will just spam dungeons with guildies or LFD and level that way or blitz through quests with the odd dungeon thrown in. Then I will go back at a later date with an alt to read the lore to quests :)

I know a lot of guildies don't want to do the dungeon route and just want to quest on their own as quick as possible.

I must say this expansion is going to be a tough one for me gearing up, because I am UH DPS main spec for 25man raids, but I am tank in our 10man group. So I've got to try get two kits up and ready :p I think getting tank kit will be easier tbh since well I can just do LFD loads and as a tank since well I will get into those almost instantly.

How are you going to work that then? With the new lockout system you will only be able to raid one or other each week, or are you just talking about 10 mans until your 20's get up and going?

yea our idea is do 10 mans (we have 3 set teams for 10mans) till we have enough people for 25. Then do 25's till we hit a brick wall, then will break up again into our said 10man groups to "learn" fight. Then once we think we are ok give it another go in 25.

This ofc is all presuming that we have people online for raids :p But that said we have 3 raiding nights a week weds thurs and sun. They want to make sure people keep their attendence high otherwise possible loss of a raider spot.

As for Kazz's comment.
The guild is fine, everyone is really nice and sociable but the thing is the guild is a raiding guild and are aiming for server firsts so they cant really have ppl lacking behind. The likelyhood is you prob won't be /gkicked but will most likely be put on social. If you get put on social well you wont be raiding. So *shrugs*
I joined this guild to raid not to sit around and wait for others to catch up.

Agreed, riading guilds arn't for the people that want to slow level. Alts are for reading into all of hte lore ect. I have the weekend for leveling and gearing should be easy. Then I'll be leveling a goblin something for the starting area exp.

If you are planning to gear up using LFD then you wont get server firsts. Combination of harder heroics, low gear and changes to healing is going to make pugging a nightmare :(

im on a pvp server so questing esp in the new ones is gonna be a gank fest so im planning on levelling in a group of 5 guildies spamming quests, gathering etc as they now give xp.

Will just break it up to split up the chore of it.

IIRC if your already at the 4k JP cap thats how you will be till 85, you simply cant buy any set items until ur 85 and i dont believe the cap is lifted once cata goes live.

So those people who grinded LK heroics to get their 4k will still have that 4k when they ding 85, unless ofc blizz gives a bigger cap or a way to spend those JP now.

Few guildies are also gonna level in tol barad, pvp also giving XP as well as honor could be a fast way to level. As they are already at the 4k cap theres nothin to gain from dungeons with no JP :)

I will only revert to LFD if guildies are not about or well they are doing other stuff. As mentioned I have a lot more kit to grind than most others so...

At the moment there are guildies still unsure if they can get time off work etc to play the week. Luckily I have a very flexible job so I have the whole week off to play (as sad as it sounds :( :p) So my plan is to pretty much play non stop to 85 brief break play non stop for gear :p

Altho as sharp mention the cap atm is 4K JP I hope they lift that up after cata otherwise will be pretty crappy as well I am already at the 4K JP cap.

Anyone else going for a 48hour+ no-life session on the 7th? I might :p

Going to need to stock up on Red Bull and supplies!

Yes.. i've just booked 3 days off work :D - Need a holiday anyway ^^

EDIT: in regards to Heirloom items, my mage has full heirlooms and i can barely tell the difference between using them and not using them.
Sure its easier to kill things (especially in the lower levels) but the actual experience increase i get isn't AS noticable as i thought it would be.

So what you have 20/30% more? its not really a huge amount lower lvls anyway, I assume that's what you're talking about, for example getting 1k XP for a quest means you get say 1200/1300 (whatever bonus you have) isn't huge really.

That's pretty strange considering you get 20% more XP from all sources with them on, I notice the instant I take them off, back when I levelled my last character with my mate he had Heirlooms and I didn't, when we got to 20+ onwards he would have to wait ages for me to catch up to him.

Ill take my time levelling but the plan is to hit 85 in time for the new arena season that starts one week from release :)

Hi,

Just resubbed after 5 years off :D got all the expansions except cata which is on preorder. My question is, the horde content I'm experiancing, is this the new redesigned lands or is the big change coming on the 7th?

oh and also, any UI replacement recommendations?

The Azeroth "Shattering" ("Big change") has already happened.

For UI's they're all down to personal preference, download the Curse client for easy installation/uninstallation of any popular addons, try out some of the more higher rated ones to start :)

Hi welcome back. Like Afran said the shattering took place last Wednesday to be exact so its still really new for everyone :) If you are still looking at UI's may I recommend http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/xperl.aspx it's a great UI and highly customizable if the default options aren't to your taste.

For UI, I really can't say anything more than: http://www.tukui.org/

I use Elvs edit thats available on the forums under his sub forum.
