** Official WoW Catalysm Alpha/Beta Thread **

Oh I know its against their T&Cs, then again so is botting, sharing accounts, buying gold and so on, yet we often discuss those here. In fact I recall a thread not long ago on here about sharing an account.

Lets face it, if someone doesnt like levelling and wants to play endgame only, then buying an account is the easiest way to achieve that. Blizzard frown on it but having said that my mate bought his account in 2007 and is still playing it now so them "catching" you is by no means a certainty and on the plus side for Blizzard it gives them 1 more paying subscription that they may of otherwise not got.

Being caught by Blizzard isn't often the issue.

The issue is the person you've bought the account from recalls it (which they can do at any time, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do about that, even if you've moved to a new account and so forth).

A few of the people I used to play with sold their accounts (for quite a lot of money due to the gear the characters had), and then a few months later decided they wanted them back.

The other person was shafted and telling Blizzard gets you nowhere :p

You can do it by all means, but its a really really bad idea.

Well I was kind of figuring he could buy it off an old guildmate or friend, something safe, not some random website.

Indeed, that would certainly help.

I still maintain the extremely short time it takes to level makes such a thing hardly worth it.

Yeah it is much quicker to level now, just figured if he is someone who really hates levelling that much he could avoid the whole levelly part by getting an account, maybe with multiple maxed out and already geared up characters on. Easier for him to get immediately to the bit he finds enjoyable.

I don't really feel like buying an account, due to the issues that have been mentioned.

Plus, I don't hate levelling that much, I don't mind it, I just find my enthusiasm goes out the window as the process gets slower, but I got one character to 70 so it can't be that difficult or time consuming these days to go from 1 to 80.

0-60 is np, 60-70 is just damned boring, but easy. 70 - 80.. hurts.

If you have a 70 already he's likely maxed out on rested XP. You can make that last all the way to 80 with ease.

There always used to have a 150% (or was it 200%) cap on rested XP meaning you could never bank more than a 1.5 levels worth of XP. Could be wrong ofc but dont think you could go from 70 to 80 of rested unless you take breaks every 1.5 levels.

A couple of questions regarding classes, as I will probably re-roll.

1.) What are the most 'powerful' classes right now, in terms of PvP? I remember it used to be Warlocks for a while, along with Paladins.

2.) What are the most 'sought after' classes for groups and guilds? Is it still Warriors and Priests? As that is what it used to be when I last played.

Also, when is Cataclysm due out? I know theres no set in stone release date right now but I know it's supposed to be released this year some time. I'm just wondering if I have time to catch up with some of the WotLK end game content, as I feel like I will be wasting my money if I end up just buying WotLK just for the levels rather than any content associated with the expansion.

no, it will be because we were not meant to be in it, technically we are not friends and family of Blizzard. I didnt see much NDA breaking going on in here to be fair, we were mostly respectful to the opportunity colin afforded us.

If that was the case we'd all have been banned.

I keep getting disconnected within 5 minutes of play on the beta servers at the minute. Been happening ever since the patch. Anyone the same?

On a weird note, with the new launched (beta) battle.net site my PTR and Cata accounts don't say anything about being banned now.

Forum still says no active beta accounts and i've gotta wait for patch to download to attempt game login....

Tried to reactivate my account today after what has probably been at least three years away from the game.

Got the message "You are unable to access this page because this license is banned, locked, or suspended."

I was going to re-roll anyway but it sucks that I'll have to pay again.

It's still 150% cap but only XP from mobs counts. Since most XP is from quests anyway you would certainly get a lot further than 1.5 levels before it runs out. :) Doing dungeons with rest XP does eat up the bonus quickly but good XP while it lasts!

Phone them up, unless you have been botting then it isnt an issue
