***Official Wrath of the Lich King Thread***(Contains spoilers)***

I finally found a link with some screenys of the alpha. Holy Crap oggy has changed completely !

I mean I knew they were redesigning it but man it has COMPLETELY changed. I really think I am going to have do one weekend and just take a trip round azeroth and take pictures of what it once looked like as after cata you are never going to be able to see what once was :(

In a way I am kinda upset to seeing the world I know and love being completely changed, but on the flip side I am super excited to :p

Agree, I am going through all the quest hubs in each of the original zones finishing everything up on my current char and getting a last clear through of them again.

not anymore, you can solo that and the one just before emberseer in UBRS

Yep, I did this a few weeks ago.

M'uru who I see as the hardest boss ever (for me), had us to the point of insanity. Our RL was the most optimistic guy in the world, I mean nothing but nothing could get him down .. apart from M'uru. He still played well into Lich King before quitting, and he said even to this day when he sees the name mentioned in guild or forums, he gets a sinking feeling. The DPS on that fight was ... wow .... if you've been there, I do not need explain.

I was responsible for 100% of the Mass Dispels and was lucky enough to have some push-back protection from Concentration Aura. Many many FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU wipes on that guy.

Especially when someone accidentally initiates Phase 2 before Phase 1 adds are cleared up enough or it's just half a second too slow and a new Phase 1 wave comes running in. :(

These 2 kill fraps still give me the chills :D

And for anyone who never saw it, how to do Eredar twins without cheesing it :p

Of all my time in WoW pre nerf Muru (along with pretty much all of Sunwell apart from the gating) was my favourite encounter by a long shot. It was very hard but not impossible, everything had to be perfect for the kill.

Wish they would make content like Sunwell now, I might still be playing if they did.

This was probably my second most favourite encounter. We went back after the nerf for gits and shiggles and I was quite sickened as to how hard they hit it :(

40man 4HM was probably our **** block boss. I'd probably put that encounter down to us replacing half of our raid team over the period of taking it down. Problem was every time we lost a guy/gal due to rq'ing over 4HM we had to get a new guy in to fill shoes and to learn the ropes :S

have read 4hmen was one of the most demanding fights in the game ever, partly due to the actual fight, then the skill/concentration levels need for the whole thing and another for gearing up, was it 6 tanks needed for it?
i didnt get to naxx40 in vannilla, which sound slike a blessing in some ways :p

I was tasked with rounding up Void Spawns on my prot pala, but had to bring in my rogue as our DPS was failing. Actually, we tried so many different raid compositions that I think everyone lost count.

I vividly remember the DPS team do a monstrous job pushing out sick DPS, just not enough. Helpless feeling knowing you're doing your utmost best, playing a perfect 10min, but it's just not enough. We would always get overrun by humanoid waves.

The first time we engaged Entropius everyone screamed so much you would've been forgiven for mistaken us cheering as if we scored a world first. When we killed him, people just blew all their DKP as nobody believed we would kill him again. We didn't.

Part of me really misses the grind that was raiding in vanilla. Nowadays you can drop in and out of the game without any real committment. I managed to skip most of the bull that was icc and then drop into a guild learning LK, get a kill once everyone knew what they were supposed to do and now drop out after getting enough hm's to see what a load of tosh they are. I like the fact its easier to come and go but there isnt a sense of achievement now. After Raggie 1st kill i didnt sleep that night. After LK i was like why did that take so long to learn. The game isnt epic anymore though i'm sure SC and the next Blizz games will be just as epic as Blizz have a certain magic

I think the problem is theres nothing really new about it anymore. The best recent change was the LFG system which made grouping really easy, but then made a lot of the raiding content useless due to giving away tier 9 for 0 effort which is better than the tier 8/8.5 I poured months into completing and also making tier 10 really easy to aquire, albiet 2/3 months if your a pure casual

That's the problem these days, everything is so easy to get. The benefit of raiding has gradually gotten lower and lower.

I remember back in Vanilla, seeing somebody in full epics was jaw dropping. These days if you see anyone who's been 80 for 2 weeks without an epic its a surprise.

All you get now is a crappy title or a mount which ends up on the Blizzard store.

Sad but true. The 8 set tier bonus' back in vanilla was an actual triumph to complete and gained you a lot of respect on the server, as it quite clearly meant you spent months going for it.

Dont really get that anymore

I remember having the full 8/8 judgement, first pala on the server to collect the full set (was pure luck as the top raiding guild killed Nef about twice as many times as us but he never dropped the brestplate for them)

I could stand in Ironforge for days just replying to whispers and group invites, people asking me to stand for screenshots. Walk in to WSG and people either ran away from you or did their damned best to take you out as a status thing.

Like you say, now having 5/5 t10 means squit, purple is the new blue.. which is a shame.

But then the changes to the game suit me better now, my kids are older, my days at work are longer and I cant be online at 6pm ready to raid for 6 hours straight 3 nights a week and spend every other waking hour grinding mats for consumables.

4HM was truly epic, the tanks had to really be on top of their game, 1 slip of concentration and it was game over, too many stacks and it all went to bits. Yeah it was tank heavy, and the poor guys got the brunt of many failed attempts and saw many kicks/rages and extended afks. Think we almost cleared the server out of all decent geared (and most of the half decent geared tanks) during the months it took us to beat the fight. I think all the officers still have their warrior alts that they rolled during this period as last resort back-ups.

I also miss having to watch aggro.. where did that concept go? Now unless you go absolutely bat **** and idiotic, there is no way you can catch a good tank that knows what he/she is doing.

I get all the money I need from selling primordial saronites from badges. Most people in the guild just log on for icc then log off again. It's a freakin yawnfest

IIRC it required 8 tanks in a day when only Warriors could actually tank, then because that wasn't insane enough they all pretty much needed the T3 set bonus that made taunt less likely to resist. Back then there was no way to increase taunts hit chance without wearing spell hit gear and a single missed taunt on 4hm was pretty much a wipe.

The taunt hit set bonus alone made C'Thun trash pulls go from complete carnage to manageable.

Exactly what I do these days too... just no reason to log in for anything else. Even doing a daily random for the 2x frosts is a major chore thats not worth doing.
The difficulty of ruby sanctum will be a good indicator of where they'll be going with Catacalysm. If it gets pugged in heroic mode within a few weeks then its gonna be curtains for wow imo

As if. I imagine the percentage of hardcore players is tiny compared to that of the more casual.
