I'm using the webform for the third time today and they keep requesting new information.

Arghhh, have somehow been hacked in the period that I havn't played the game for about a year
Went to log into my account management today and it told me I had to merge my WoW account with a Battle.net account. Once I made the account and I attempted the merger, it just wouldn't accept the password for my WoW account which I know is 100% right. I tried to reset my password, but it's telling me that my WoW account is already bound to another Battle.net account
Been trying to recover it, but as I can't find my original CD-Key from 5 years ago, and the fact that Blizzard expects you to know the answer to your secret question without letting you see the question is making things difficult
Man that sucks. It is much easier when you sign up to Battlenet, I had mine hacked and got everything back within a few hours so good luck. That was with the account original not being mine and me knowing nothing other than login and password.

I want to re-sub to this but i am really unsure whether or not to do so.... I'm quite looking forward to the idea of the new Expansion but would want to get a feel for the game again before it is released.

If you're unsure i'd say wait untill the expansion itself, they're changing so much for both new characters and 80+. If you have a lvl80 already or are starting from new i'd say wait, at most resub when patch 4.0 is released, that'll include a lot of the changes but none of the actual content and lvl80+.
Re-sub a couple of days before, and get patched up etc... that way you can play on the day
Best bet would be resub when they release the pre expansion patch (the inveitable huge patch that updates all the game mechanics to the cataclysm ones but before the expansion is actually released)
Well, the servers are going to be down all day tomorrow in preparation for the expansion, though I doubt they'll start the prepatching so soon. That said, the patch is going to be so huge, given its essentially a whole new game :x
They've been taking down each cluster of servers now for over a month so nothing new there. 24 hour maintenance has to happen on all realms before cata release but they won't do them all at once.
Wouldn't bother tbh. The game is slowing down in preparation for the expansion. Just a few guilds still going for LK 25HC on my server. Mostly dead apart from that.
Are you re-subbing with an existing toon or looking to re-roll?
I'd probably not bother re-subbing to download any patches, as I imagine the version you get from the Cata hardcopy will pretty much wipe everything you download now.

The boards are pretty quiet (read nearly dead) but it will pick up closer to the xpac being released.

I have a few chars i could continue with.... when is the patch going to be released (estimate).
This is annoying me as of late,
Im farming a Thunderfury, and everytime I enter combat in MC, WoW crahses for some reason.
Annnd Alterac Valley queue times in 70-79 bracket, Estimated queue time less than a minute, time in queue, 4 hours. Nice going.

we are still a minimum of 3 months from full release.
just looking at the state of the current beta build its missing a shed load of content still, its still got quite a way to go before they seriously think about patch 4.0
i think there is plenty of time to level from 1-80, it is quiet though, thank god for the Dungeon LFG system.
the OCUK Cata guild forum is slow right now, mainly because there is little to talk about at this stage.

This is probably a good time to take a break from wow, as wotlk winds down and SC2 is out.
Not so good for me unfortunately, Im playing an alt for a bit of a change, and the random dungeon queues have gotten noticeably longer in the last couple of weeks.
Oh and what is with Tanks accepting a random dungeon invite and then immediately leaving the group as soon as they zone in to the instance?
Such a pain for the rest of the group that now have to wait another 10-15 mins for a tank that actually wants to do an instance.

This has happend with me on the rare occasion. It is a bit annoying but we just requeue. Isn't a big problem.
Regarding Cata I too believe it is at least 3 months away. Raiding has slowed down but fortunately I still raid in a guild clearing ICC each week. We are not Hardcore (4/12 HC 25 man / 11/12 HC 10 man w. Drakes) and because of this we have been lucky having applications from other guilds looking for this sort of experience.
It's also great for me as I'm in the middle of collecting shards for Shadowmourne
If people are thinking about rerolling then reroll, otherwise don't. Its not hard. If you want to play then instal and play, just bare in mind the next expansion is a few months away as you already know!

I love HoR, mainly because it's the easiest dungeon in Wrath. But then again I generally run with guildies and I play a paladin who gets to go ret for LFG and we have a priest so, we CC the mage/priest/rifleman and fight them 2 at a time and not doing the stupid LoS tactic.

Just not going to happen in a pug group, you would have 2 of the other 4 players cross eyed trying to explain the concept of CC to them.
Next expansion is certainly going to be interesting since blizzard had stated this is what its going to be about in Dungeons and Raids.
Oh lordy I think non guild runs are going to dry up more now
