No date confirmed yet, won't be out before the end of October imo, given the shape the beta is in (they're still fiddling with Hunters and Paladins, unfinished zones, i don't think a balancing pass on classes has been made yet. etc).

For the time being you won't be able to make any pre-orders for CE either. GAME are the only retailer with the code for it, but the shops aren't allowed to use it for the time being. Everyone else is waiting for a confirmation from their suppliers before they put the pre-orders up.
 
Finally killed the Lich King last night!

Was the only thing I wanted to do before Cata came out :)

I know most people have already downed him but I was stuck being a casual gamer and always having to join pugs, managed to get into a guild run and downloaded him on 10man :)

I think its a little bit more than that.

Perhaps about 4500,. which is kinda funny when you see so many with (average) 5k+ mass wiping and 6k+ rated players instantly leaving.

In all fairness the place is annoying. If the healer doesn't know how to LOS the ranged mobs, the tank has to do twice as much work trying to round everything up, all the while keeping aggro from trigger happy dps who attack random targets -.- Unless you're a DK that is and just death grip those pesky sharpshooters.

Well I done 8 heroics last night quite easily. Went into the first one by mistake (Culling of Stratholme), the random dungeon finder must change to Heroic when you ding 80 and I didn't notice until the end when the achievement came up... so decided to keep going and done quite well. Managed to get a nice Epic healing mace, some cool trinkets, decent chest and had enough emblems to buy my shoulders. I also used some honor points to buy the epic pvp Libram that increases Flash of Light spell power by quite a lot. Anyways finding them even easier now with my new gear. :)

Oh yeah it is annoying on many levels. Not just a healer not using LoS.

Each time I enter HoR I generally emote some negative emotion, but I will at least give it a try and see how we go.

Its about 50/50 if we clear it. If I'm with a friend its generally OK since we both have very high gear scores which tends to get the job done.

Congrats

Was my goal also before I decided to quit. Got him on 10 man then kept wiping on 25 man after finally downing sindri lol. We carried a lot of players in 25 man sadly so the progress there was amazingly slow.
 
I'm really looking for a semi hardcore but friendly guild now but it's a lot harder than when I was a druid! Fury warriors are everywhere.
 
Bleh, now I get a new pc with great fps in raids, it seems my connection or install of wow is borked :( Getting 500ms on my pc (copied whole installation across from my old pc) while my wife has 60ms on hers sitting beside mine. Has to be the installation im thinking, will delete WTF folders etc tonight and see if that makes a difference, if not its a new installation from scratch tonight!
 
Dont suppose anyone here could try and get into the WoW account management pages and see if its down or just me? Trying to top my gametime as it ran out earlier.....and I cant!

This is taking the mick now, Entered the same details I always do to pay for a month, I have enough money in my account, and failed to go in 3 times, Now im locked out for day...Bleh

Finally got a response from GAME CS about Collector's Edition.

As yet we have not been given any information on whether or not we will be stocking the Limited Edition title of that game. In the past past we have stocked this item however as yet the publishers have not confirmed us as a definite retailer of this product a few high street brands have been announced as stockists for this. We are hoping to get this clarified shortly.

Please note the bolded part. HMV would appear to be one of them - check it today and while they do have a code for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (worth £49.99), it doesn't specify CE (though the price is a major indicator), and - like GAME - they can't use it yet.
What's more a GAME employee gave me a tentative maybe for CE codes going live on Wednesday - whether or not he was pulling this out of his ass, I'll find out soon enough :P
 
Post i made on wow forums, about my fps.

So im still convinced im not getting quite the right fps.

Spec is:

Intel Q9550 @ 4GHz, Asus Maximus 2 Formula, Ati 4870 1GB @ 820 / 1050 (Standard is 750 / 900), 2x 2GB DDR2 1066, Corsair 620W Psu, variety of hdd's


I did some testing today on Sindragosa 25M HC.

With all my addons turned on, graphics set to ultra (even shadows) running 1920 x 1200 with 1x multisample, i was getting 15 - 30 fps for that fight.

The same again, but shadows down 1 or 2 notches. Id get 20 - 40 Fps.

With all graphics settings low, normal addons @ 1920 x 1200, there was very little difference to the above while in combat. Maybe 2 or 3 fps. My fps while standing in front of the boss out of combat was higher, maybe 130 (would get 60 - 70 when running @ ultra except shadows)

With all graphics settings down low, all but the basic addons turned off 1920 x 1200, i was getting 25 - 40 fps.

I then tried, all settings low, all but basic addons turned off, 1 x multi sample @ 1280 x 768 res. With this, i was getting 30 - 50 fps, but it jumped quite a lot.

I've tried:

Cpu overclock + at stock
Gpu overclock + stock
Fresh install of wow.
3 Different Hdd's (Win drive, games / media drive and a completly clean 500gb Western digital black)
All drivers are up to date.
Set to performance in ati catalyst control centre.
Deleted WTF Cache and interface folder.
Checked temperatures, they are all fine.
Changed various different graphics settings. I get boosts outside of combat, but when in combat in 25man raids fps is horrible.
Im sure i had similiar fps issues when i had vista 64 installed. I installed win 7 about 5 months ago. Tried it with a fresh install, same as it is now.
Temperatures are fine, using watercooling. Gpu never goes above 45 Degrees c, cpu is never above 60 degrees across the cores. NB / SB temps are ok as well.
Im not sure what to do. I know people will say I7's are faster etc etc but i cant believe im being hugely cpu limited @ 1280 x 768 with low graphics settings using a 4GHz cpu.

When in outside zones / old instances i find i get decent fps. Normally 100 - 200. When i get that kind of fps, my cpu usage is normally quite high along with gpu usually 60 - 90%.

In raids where i have the problem, gpu is never above 50% usage and cpu is never above 80% overall for the cores wow uses, more like 60%.

Ive tried setting my cpu to use 1 2 3 and 4 cores but it makes no difference. Tried disabling sound without any effect.

Ive also tried changing some stuff in my config, such as:

SET gxApi "d3d9ex"
SET gxTextureCacheSize with a variety of different values
SET M2Faster "3"
SET processAffinityMask

All other games run fine (Company of heroes, BFBC2, Borderlands, all that kinda crap. Hell it even feels like Metro 2033 runs better :s)

I know this is a cpu intensive game, but icant believe my fps is so simliar when running max settings (inc full shadows) and lowest settings.

Any advice?
 
To the above poster, when you put set processaffinitymask what number did you put after it? Theres a post on the wow forums with the different best numbers for each cpu. I7s is 255 but im not sure what quads are. Does provide a nice little boost.

Sadly for us ATI users, the game runs like crap on ATI hardware compared to the nvidia variations due to how the nvidia cards render shadows. Stencil shadows are done faster on nvidia hardware :(

Also be weary of memory leaks from stuff like vent etc which eat up your RAM if left unattended.
 
Ive tried lots of different affinity masks, but mainly to use 2 3 or 4 cores. makes no difference.

My ram seems fine, never see it go above 2.5gb total usage while playing even with vent on and stuff.
