Exactly - so when you are driving around normally its a front wheel drive car until the front wheels begin to lose grip...

your point being? I sure as hell cant tell a 4wd car from a front wheel drive car when im driving, unless the wheels begin to spin, which is where the Haldex diff starts to work. the Haldex diff is exactly what it says, a differential, there is still power going to the rear wheels.

The S3 has the Auti Quattro system.
I'm guessing it's 'proper 4wd'.
Both Haldex and Torsen diff systems are labelled as Quattro.

A2 - No Quattro at all
A3/TT - Haldex
A4/A6/A8 - Torsen diff (the "proper" quattro system)

Can't comment on the other cars, but I had an Accord Type-R since late May and it was an excellent car, just a shame someone decided to drive into the back of it at high speed last month while queueing in traffic and it's now written off.

Due to the scarcity of the ATR up north, I started looking around at other cars to replace it and test drove a 2.5l V6 Alfa Romeo 156 yesterday which I shall now be buying. Seems much quicker than the ATR and the V6 means it'll pick up at lower revs easier, while the ATR had to be above 5.5k rpm to do anything special.

The Honda is a truly great car, I've just been seduced by the sound and performance of that Alfa V6. Insurance is £200 cheaper on the Alfa too :)

Ive also looked at an Alfa, X-Type and Civic type-r?

while you are at it why not try a hummer, 2cv and a stretched limo :p

Sounds to me like you dont have a clue and you are just driving (are you actually driving them?) cars for the sake of it.

I also dont understand how you are losing 6 years no claim bonus when you even mentioned you have a protection scheme in place??

you also dont really seem to have a clue about budgets, you mention civic type-r's and then audi s4's in the same sentence. I'm sorry to sound agressive and nasty but this is far from a concise post.

Well ive driven a 330 Ci, S3 and Cupra R now and still dont know what one i prefer!

you need to be more decisive mate....there are v distinct differences between the 330Ci and the S3 & Cupra R. Surely you must have preferred one out of the three?!?

OK, well im a tight ass so the cheaper it is to run the better! Heart says BMW for buid quality, handling, noise, but head is saying Seat a lot of car for ££, guess its cheapest to run and quick up to a ton TC kicking in, in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and if REVO'd well?!

I bet five pounds to a charity of your choice you buy none of these cars :)

or coz im an american ill make that $10 :D

you just come across as someone who knows nothing about cars and are just posting a list of cars that you are watching drive past your window, BMW's dont have a decent exhaust note I know I drove a 330 for years, the M3 is as good as it gets and it sounds like a strangled cat! You then bring up a seat - the only thing a 330 and a seat have in common is they are both cars, you really couldnt have a larger variation :p why not get sensible and stop dreaming about 330's and s4's and tell us which cars you can actually afford. While you are at it tell me which insurance company took away your protected 6 years no claims bonus after one crash, I must avoid them like the plague!

The M3 has one of the best engine notes I have ever heard, and I wouldnt liken it to a strangled cat, and when the exhaust buzzes it only sweetens the experience.

gaz, you have answered it yourself....the Seat.

which m3's are you listening to? the only m3 with a respectable exahust note is the CSL, the rest sound awful, even owners admit it, its bordering on embaressment for them :)
