Ok... might get console on way home today. Need advice.

Ok, well thanks for the input.... but as stated previously I went and got the 360, so making the decision no longer an issue :)

However, what I do need to know is: are all xbox games playable on the 360?

Im new to this console forum as well and I must say these forums are worse for "fanboi's". At least in the GPU section ATI fans new they were beaten for ages. I personally dont care which console he or anyone else buys.

I dont get commission from Nintendo, Micro$shaft or $ony. IT makes no difference to any of us who buys which console.

If he wants something fun and different buy a Wii, they are mega fun cause they are so unique. Buy a 360 if u want cheap gaming, wide selection of games and a sleek Online experience. Buy a Ps3 if u want free online play, a good selection of titles & a blu-ray player.

If it was me, I would go for the PS3, blueray and the upcoming games line up looks awesome (wipeout, GTA). But, I think you probably need to sit back and do some research first as to what you really want..
Same here...free online play and inbuilt wifi as well. What more could you ask for? :D

2008 is the year for PS3 and oh yes, more reliable!

Not all are but most are, there are also some xbox games you can download and they seem to be updating the list regularly.

Have you looked up mass effect yet?

Thanks. The games I am most interested in form the xbox are Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, Prinse of Persia games, Metal Gear Solid games for now. Will have to try and findout which will work.

Am familiar with mass effect. Its one I am likely to get, thought just not sure whether to get on pc or console...

Almost all, here's a list:

For a good long story based game you really can't go wrong with Mass Effect; tremendous stuff. I'd also recommend Blue Dragon (very good, if traditional jrpg), Dead Rising and Crackdown.

Should have warned you Bomberman was rubbish, uter drivel in fact so get rid of it sharpish.

PGR4 is amazing, once you stick that in you can kiss away a lot more time.

Just so you know Ninja Gaiden Black is being offered as a download from the Marketplace as of next week, cost will be 1200 points.

Same could be said for you with regards to the PS3. I noticed in another thread someone said they wanted a PS3 and you were like a religious fanatic trying to convert them to 360... I wouldn't suprise me if I found out you go door knocking at weekends but give out copies of the official Xbox magazine instead of watchtower? :p

Someone had an Xbox360 the yesterday and I said they should trade it in and get a PS3.
I wasn't like a religious fanatic either, I think he was making a mistake and said as much, he's made his decision now and I'll let him stand by it.

I try too stay out of these discussions now, but this really took the biscuit.
How you have the nerve to accuse someone else of console bias and having ulterior motives is just mind boggling.
When you are widely acknowleged as being one of the most bias posters on these boards.

Not bias. I have no ulterior motives, I've always said I love the PS3 as a media machine and when the games come it will be a good console. He said he wanted games so I told him what I tell everyone looking for games, the Xbox360 is the games machine currently out.

The difference is I don't have my head up a companies ass.

It's not out on PC, is a shoe-in as a strong nominee for Game of the Year and is made by BioWare, creators of Jade Empire/Baldurs Gate/Knights of the Old Republic.

Ok, so rented dead rising yesterday - please tell me this game is not a good taste of things to come witha console!

I am getting used to the controls now, but for the love of God, whats with the save game structure in this game? If there is one thing I HATE, its repeating long stretches of mundane things like running from point A to point B. But the game has no save game areas that I can find (When I would like to use them).

And if I die, I got another 20 minute trek to get to where I want to be to try again. Plus, why would it ask you to save after you die, if its going to save the fact that you have died? I thought, well maybe there was some checkpoint between my last actual save and having died.... NO! Your'e dead pal, restart RIGTH form the beginning!

So yeah, please tell me these kinds of frustrations of partial to this game, and not a beneral fault of Xbox games.....

When i had my ps3 at around april 07, all the games i had seemed to have bad framerate and no AA, the only games that looked and played good were resistance and motorstorm.

Has all this been sorted yet? I played COD4 and fifa 08 on the ps3, and compared to the 360 version they still had lots of choppy gameplay, esp when airstrikes are called in on cod4 and when theres lots of players on screen on the PS3.

Its getting better but theres still the odd sloppy port (Turok for example)

As said, it is getting better, The 2 games you mention in particular are games I've had no trouble with. On the other hand PES is still bad.
