Howdy,

As some of you may know I got a Laser cutter a while back, and started making stuff with it.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18152799

Within a few weeks of getting it, I managed to accidentally invent something very cool :-)

I just got back from LA after presenting it to the Worlds Biggest Toy Company. While I was there the temps hit 113 (45c) degrees too, the hottest day there since records began!

Just heard they are interested and have taken an option on it :-)

This time next year Rodney.

I am the dude on the right :-)

An nope can't say what it is :-(

Well it was prototyped on the laser, but it all works as if it would in production.

If it is licensed then when I will let you guys know what it is. As it is currently with the leading manufacturer, it will be released globally. So yup some of you may be interested to know how it came to be.

it has a mass market appeal, is unique and very cool indeed. I would think that if it did get released allot of you on here would buy it for yourself or someone you knew.

As for the money involved. Say it does $100 million in a year globally, normally the inventor gets 4-6% gross. It is a bit like getting a recording deal, you simply gets cheques each quarter. Our agent made stacks on the toys he has invented - one alone made him a multi millionaire.

Ok it has nothing to do with lasers, kittens, robots or cake.

And yup if it does go into production, I am likely to get some boxes of the stuff.

If that is the case then, claims will be honoured to my best ability:-)

Ok just to clear up the laser stuff. It is a prototyping tool, and was used to make working models of the stuff. Just as if I had used a rapid 3D printer etc..

I can't give too much away, especially as I am being paid for the option, it all becomes a bit super serious and very cool & exciting.

Seeing as I am unemployed, this could be a very neat thing to happen for me anyways.

The patents are sorted by the licence holder as part of the process. It is all very simple stuff, it is just the method of doing what it does which makes it stand out.

Ok, I am a pro designer, with 2 Royal Society of Arts awards for Design. Also when I was younger I got 2 Young Inventor Awards (Coming true now).

Spent 10 years in the mobile industry making stuff on phones you have probably used. Then got made redundant and made more stuff.

I also design and make Robots, cos i love 'em, just got published in a major US Mag with some of the stuff I have made.

I have some older stuff up mostly here:

http://attn2detail.net/ My old portfolio site

http://www.botbuilder.co.uk/store/ The robots & electronics I design and manufacture

http://www.pinter75.com/robots/ The older hobby robots I made

And a pile of videos about stuff here http://www.youtube.com/pinter75 Contains a whole heap of stuff.

And noe of the above is anywhere near what I have done in terms of the thing i have made.

I'm more interested to know how he went "ooooh this is cool" in his garage to flying to LA to meet with a room of Directors...

Claim #72 :p

It was the shed, not the garage :-)

The thing I had made was spotted by a Toy Inventor (He who invented Cube World, If any one remebers it) at an event I goto each Thursday. Just a group of nerds meeting up to show off what they have made etc.. The idea got developed and then using his contacts we demoed it to the big M in the Uk, then had to go over to LA to show it in person.

The guy who is repping me has nearly 50 licences in the toy world, so is a major player. It is a case of not what you know, but who you know in this case.

No believe me, Harley/Sequioa would have more no matter what you did.
He invented Cats Eyes, Trivial Pursuit and sliced bread amongst others including Windows 7 & DOS.

Oh yeah I forgot about that, such a long time ago. I also think he invented what I thought I invented, no wait... did he?

What happened to the first concept?

What are people claiming exactly? A free one of what you have invented?

The 1st Concept is with the manufacturer for review.

The 2nd concept is being presented to the manufacturer on Monday.

The claims are for whatever I have left over *if* it goes into production and *if* I get a box load of them.

Monday's meeting went well - they really liked it, but they are not going to peruse concept 2 - for a number of reasons which I did envisage., so it is onto number 3 :-)

If anything I am now a bit more visible to the Worlds biggest player in toys.

Plenty plenty more ideas up my selves.

Still the biggest concept (the 1st one) is still going strong.

In this industry only a small percentage of stuff gets in. Still concept 2 is going to other manufacturers :-)

Howdy,

Bit of an update.

Yesterday went to a very well known manufacturer to present a gadget I designed, they loved it and hope to hear soon if it is to go into production.

Today went to another major toy co and presented another idea, liked it too and kept it for review, hope to hear about that one soon too :-)
