(Thought I'd share the post that I just made on another forum)
Got back from the stadium (again) this evening and despite a rather poor showing from the Brits, it was a great night.
Bolt was idolized by the crowd during his medal ceremony, which was thoroughly correct and Gatlin got a fair amount of booing (I didn't clap, but I did smile at the unsettled undercurrent in the stands).
The pole vault was a bit hit and miss, but the girls were good entertainment and seemed to enjoy the crowd in the North End. It's a minor detail, but I also liked the way that they all observed the national anthems during the medal ceremony's. I've watched athletics for nigh on 25 years, but it's only when you attend in person that you start noticing the little things.
Sadly I think Isinbayeva's time has passed, but on the plus side I think I've fallen in love with another Czech athlete. That's 4 now. Two beach volley-ballers, one heptathlete and a polevaulter.
The nicest reaction was to the 400m hurdles winner, Sanchez. There wasn't much reaction at all when he crossed the line, I suppose we were all a deflated by Dai's performance, but when he began welling up during his medal ceremony the crowd gave him a reaction not far off Bolt's.
I now consider myself a Felix Sanchez fan.
As for the organisation in the Park. Faultless again. The gents toilets do need jet washing more frequently though.
