He may very well be but like I said the way the media have hyped him up was pretty hilarious in all honesty.

Shame really as I wanted to see him win the gold today.

That's the whole point though. He is the best at what he does but he's reliant on the team to get him there and they had to do all the work so couldn't get him there.

The lost it when they went through box hill for the last time when they allowed another chase group to escape. That was 40km ago :/

ps3ud0

Yup that's when the trouble started, a shame but these things happen. It's up to the women in their road race tomorrow now. Bradley shouldn't have taken too much out of himself today for Wednesday.

Why though? His record speaks for itself, be it Tour de France, World Championships etc, it was justified in my view.

But as others have said circumstances conspired against him.

They didn't have any information because the organisers ****** up royally and didn't provide enough timing information during the race.

Yeah, that explains it then, I turned on half way through it and knew something was off. As someone who doesn't really know anything about this event, but was interested in watching it, I found it a little difficult to follow at times.

No it wasnt.
The media said he had a good chance of winning because he had a good chance of winning.
You cant chase every breakaway, you have to gamble and hope that you can catch them again and hope that some of the other sprinters teams will help you chase.
Thats cycling, thats what happens. It's disappointing for Cav/GB but they worked hard and stuck to their plan. A combination of a very big escape group and not much help chasing from anybody else ruined their chances.
Cavendish is by far the fastest sprinter and i'm fairly sure he would have won if it was all together at the end.

Really disappointed for Cancellara though. I hope he's not too bad and can still ride the TT, but it didnt look good. He was by far the favourite to win from that group.

Don't argue with clueless trolls - it's a waste of energy.

To be fair, it was always going to be tough putting all your hopes on a sprint finish, especially with a smaller team than in Le Tour. They just didn't have the manpower to drag the peloton along for the whole race.

Very happy for Vinny after a horrible 2011, and a disappointing season up till now.

Gutted for Cancellara, was very much in the running for a medal until the crash, and almost certain to get a medal in the ITT :(

The sprint between 1st and 2nd was a bit of go when the other chap was looking over his shoulder. Poor from the Colombian but sprints have always been getting about the jump on the other man.

It is a shame for Cav and Team GB but you cannot chase down a large breakaway with only 6-7 people in the peleton and you can't win them all. I hope Cancellara is ok as he is one of the big rivals to make the time trial exciting!
