I myself was slightly sceptical at first. 5 seconds off a personal best is astonishing, however I had assumed that that was her personal best in training or something, not something which happened over a year ago. One year of solid training between her PB and now, of course shes going to have improved massively. Stupid media.

What is up with American media that they cant even be bothered to pick up their swimmers live to interview them? Such a poor show by NBC and their coverage it seems...

Well the fact that they didn't show the Opening Ceremony live and left it for a recording later on and with their oh-so-awesome commentary kind of hints at their efforts early on.
