<omg> Duke Nukem Forever news </omg>

Significant progress they say? I should flippin well hope so, I think if anyone had a team of designers, a billion years and a huge following they could make significant progress at some point in that timeline.

Id love to know how 3d realms is still in business, who exactly is pumping money into them to keep them afloat?

Looking forward to DNF eventually though.

Exactly what I've been wondering. As far as I'm aware, 3D Realms haven't released any (significant) titles since Duke 3D came out and they surely can't be living off royalties from their back catalogue....can they?

Also I know Duke is meant to be the ultimate hardass, but the DNF depiction of an almost-reflective, horribly steroid pumped grimacing buffoon with fingers so fat he couldn't possibly squeeze the trigger on his guns, is frankly off-putting :p

If this gets released then great, i'll probably take a look. If not, then meh.

Not that I don't care, but i'm not anticipating it either. If it's as good as it sounds it'll be pretty impressive though.

Say whaa? ...

Daikatana was released. It was only upon it's release people said, in their opinon, how awful it was and how it did not live up to the hype.

So think carefully before making a statement like that again, as you cannot compare the two.

Hype for DNF was originally started via the original fan-base, the early screenshots and trailers. Since 3DRealms started the "information blackout", the only "hype" that has been generated has been from the fans themselves, and the scraps of information they have meticulously examined.

Yeah, this game has taken "forever" (haw-haw, yes I have heard them all) to develop and many many people doubt it will ever see the light of day. I don't know if it will or not. I just hope it will. Because I believe it will be a great game worth playing, regardless of how long it has taken.

This news sparked something inside. Regardless of hype, vapourware accusations, I still get excited at the idea of playing DNF one day. And I am 100% sure I am not the only one.

Who the hell do you think you are? Because that's a mighty high horse you're on.

I made a comparison that Daikatana also took forever to relase. That is all. Take your ridiculous accusations elsewhere, perhaps to an ID forum where somebody might give a damn.

Ohh the days of Duke Nukem 3D, never a dull moment when playing that game on death match, on a LAN.

When the sound of Dukes voice boomed out of your headphones.. " ain't got time to play with myself " and my all time favourite " Your face, your ass ? whats the difference ? "

Oh please :p

Firstly, you weren't that specific in your original post. You simply said:

"It's like Daikatana all over again."

Secondly, I stopped specifically referring to your post after the following line:

"So think carefully before making a statement like that again, as you cannot compare the two."

The rest was a general rant and I stand by it. I’m not sure what I did to warrant your response… Anyway, it’s great to see there is still some support for Mr. Nukem. Although I will admit, I have never pre-ordered it…

This game is a joke, it's not going to come out till i'm dead.. Delay after delay after delay for the lose.

How can a game be delayed unless there was an offical release date? Which there never has been... to my knowledge? And by exact, I mean day, month and year :)

Apparently they still receive royalties from older games, their incursions into the console / handheld market etc. Maybe they are just good at saving money after Duke Nukem 3D and the numerous other games and bonus packs they released / co-developed? :p

"So think carefully before making a statement like that again, as you cannot compare the two." is a threat. And i can compare the two, because i just did.

So think carefully before you read too much into people's sentences and making your own conclusions as to their meaning, because you might just be stupidly wrong.

id imagine it will be like stalker, tons of years in the making and a big disappointment when it comes out.

It was never delayed.

Duke Nukam, Pray and Max Payne 1 + 2, these combined should have raked in substantial money. Alright they didn’t make Max Payne, but they “oversaw” production and I’m sure they got money from it.
