<omg> Duke Nukem Forever news </omg>

i dont need to prove its bad. they havent released anything in 10 years that would suggest otherwise. i never said i wasnt looking forward to the day when the game was actually released, but that doesnt mean im going to think of it as some sort of gaming messiah or something
 
You know I'm not directing my rant at you dude, I'm just standing up for the game. Too many people think they *know* it's going to be bad and the more I read people slating the game whenever its mentioned, the more I get fed up with it.

It feels the only place where you can peacefully talk about DNF without someone telling you how bad 3DR are or how bad DNF will be is the 3DR forums, which are over moderated to the extreme. Although this thread wasn't too bad until I posted in it :o I just needed to vent, mmkay!

I hope the rumour has truth behind it though, I'd love to see some real media of how DNF is looking. If the thumbnails they teased us with are anything to go by, it'll at least look awesome :)
 
Sooner or later they got to stick with a engine and not fall behind and switch to a newer game engine and restarting from scratch like they been doing for years or they never finish it.
There is a small fan base that really wants it out but as time goes by that will get smaller and new gamers willn't give a crap about DNF unless it as good as the games what are out at the time of it's release, as for me i gave up waiting for it when it dumped unreal 2 engine years ago ( i think it was) and will just wait until it finished if it is good i get it if not i will pass on it.
 
Ive stopped caring so much about DNF now.
I had high hopes for years, but i doubt it'll ever see the light of day, and no matter how good it is if it is released, it'll get slated due to expectations.

Hype or not, after 10 years in development people shouldnt expect anything less than some sort of wondergame that makes Crysis look like Wolf3D.
 
Well, like I said before, the "hype machine" as it stands are the various fans who now remain passive during the long development time and the active members in various forums / fansites. But like 3DRealms say, once DNF is announced and officially available for pre-order, there is no way you could not know about it! Then the media hype-machine goes into full swing, advertisements, posters, screenshots(?) these are all just assumptions...

But yeah, when it is announced, oh there will be hype. But I don’t really care about that stuff. I just want a game that is fun to play. Even if it’s just more of the same, Duke-wise, I’ll be a very happy bunny!

It was officially announced over ten years ago. Since then we've had all the hype, screenshots/videos etc....still we are waiting. They havent produced anything concrete since 2001 - They just keep switching engines and starting over again.
