<omg> Duke Nukem Forever news </omg>

This is what happened with TF2. Every 6 months Valve would give a new release date.. 6 months down the line. Went on for nearly 10 years IIRC TF2 was 'announced' in 1997. This all went on while Valve ignored every request from the community to fix the countless bugs left in TFC... There are still bugs in there that were present in 1999! God damn money grabbers.

I wouldn't expect DNF to live up to expectations though. Its been in development so long that everybody is looking through rose tinted glasses at the original and it will never live up to it.. Much the same way I feel about TF2, whether its the rose tint or it generally isn't as good I don't know, but the magic just isn't there.

Man I miss TFC.

In all seriousness..... i care about this game. A game with the much effort put in to it could be damn amazing. Duke Nukem was always fun so i am expecting nothing less of this.
I am not anticipating it though, simply because it might never come out. Once it has gone gold i am sure the hype will pick up again!
 
I think this is going to be the single greatest game in existence for FPS full on awesomeness.

It's Duke, it has strippers and bubblegum and swear words.

It's impossible for it not to be bad and 3DRealms have not made an ounce of hype for it ever since going silent, they're just slowly developing and seeing what the competition delivers to better them when the game hits announcement time.

I also don't understand why people are comparing it to SOF3 or STALKER, for starters it's not made by a dev who have "value" in their name...

I think people are too subborn about DNF. The wait has been far too long but I don't see why people are hatin' on it just because it's taken so long. Yeah we've all been disappointed but why can't we just look forward to it. It's not as if they're going to vamp up the hype machines again unless they're actually going to release it.

Yeah lets all join the stubborn and arrogant bandwagon and miss out on an awesome game, then.

So many people being so silly about this game. It makes me really annoyed. Yeah it has the longest development time line like, ever, but so what!?

It's not as if they've been stringing you on, and it's not as if they owe anyone anything. They shut up and started making the game again because the way the game was going wasn't how they wanted it to be. They thought it was cool, released some media hype of what they were doing, then changed their mind about it. It's been totally blown out of proportion and some people are being nothing short of stupid about it all.

Also, you'd be dumb to think that DNF still looks like the old screen shots do.

Why cant you just accept that it will be a cool game, it's taken a long time to do and that they have made a few mistakes along the way?

Every time this game is mentioned people slate how bad it's going to be and how they don't care about it any more.

If DNF is as good as I hope it will be - and I believe it will be - I would be happy if all the "DNF haters" didn't ever play the game, because they don't deserve to play it with their attitude.

because, the bottom line, you cant prove that its going to be any good at all. As a matter of fact, neither can they. all the general public have to go by is the track record of every other game thats taken tragically long to get to the shelves.
