On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

Feeling under the weather with a nasty cold, feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight and for the first time in the 7 weeks since I've stopped drinking I'm considering buy a few beers 'to cheer myself up'.

I know it's a lie, and that A) the alcohol won't help the cold. B) the alcohol will make me feel worse tomorrow. C) I won't actually enjoy the beer. D) That having beer tonight will likely be the start of a spiral into the destructive habits I'd formed before stopping, and will probably derail the plans I have for the next year or so.

But I'm feeling sorry for myself and thinking if I can't do what I'd like to be doing I might as well do what I'd normally do...

Someone kick a brother up the rear end?

Don't do it - 6 and a half weeks for me now , and I've got a stinking cold too. Be strong - I sometimes make a hot stock drink (often a Chicken Knorr cube in a mug with boiling water) - warms and cheers me up no end :)

For me, falling off means having to go through that first week of cold turkey hell again - no chance. It's not fun.

Time for a refreshing Fuzzy Navel:

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup peach nectar

Pour the orange juice and peach nectar over ice, stir until mixed. Make a jug of this one for the weekend.

Cheers :)

Did everyone survive the weekend then? For those who were just giving up just of October I ask again - how many of you will stay sober, and how many can't wait to crack open a beer?

theoretically that's it, I've done it yay, don't drink on Sundays or school nights so October sober is done.

Now time to get smashed :)

Nearly 2 weeks for me. Will carry on into next month as I started late.

The other day was difficult when someone took me to the pub for lunch :( really wanted a pint but I resisted the temptation. :)

Also DJ has been tempting me as well. ;)

Simple and refreshing, a Supper Sipper:

3 oz red grape juice
3 oz lemonade
Carbonated water

Add grape juice and lemonade to glass with ice, mix, top up with some carbonated water.

Cheers :)
