On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

So today's the day where
  • You feel great because you haven't had a drink since Sunday, the fog has cleared and you're more productive
  • Every one at work is starting to chat about what are they doing tonight
  • The end of the week rolls on and the habit of having a beer after work kicks in
Any motivational tips to keep it up???

Unfortunately not. I caved yesterday and had a few beers, damn those third day cravings!!!!!:mad::mad:

It didn't help that I got some pretty crappy news from a close family member, but it's all excuses in the end I suppose.

I've shaken myself off and I am definitely not drinking today. I'm also pretty keen for that book to hurry the hell over here, though delivery isn't estimated until the 1st October (expat).

This is one of the benefits of working shifts, the 'weekend' can be midweek when everyone else is working...

You enjoy cooking, how about looking out some new fancy recipes to try?

Start a project. It can be anything. Poor your energy into something else.

Going for a walk, cycling, anything. I bought a bike. When it got to around 8pm I would get itchy.:o

So I would just put headphones in whack some daft punk on my phone run my fitness pal and bike 15 miles in around 50 mins :p

I would get back home around 9pm sweaty and knackered. Have a shower. Potter about....Have a juice session then go to bed.

Next day feels ace like a conquered mountain. YOU can do it.You just have to want to do it. And train your brain to have a paradigm shift.

Say this:

I can have a beer if I want one. But I choose not to have one

Rather than

I can't have a beer. Even though I want one.

"Think of the first time you saw something in high definition, all of the sudden your regular TV, which you had been quite happy with no longer seemed so great.

Remember the first time you used a high speed modem to access the internet. Your dialup modem didn't seem so bad before, but now it was crap. The same could be said for VHS tapes after the DVD came out, and there are many other examples.

The point is this - life should be an exciting adventure. What makes an exciting adventure, it certainly isn't driving the exact same way to work or eating at the same restaurant all the time. Adventure by it's very nature calls for exploring new things."

Explore being sober and see it as a new adventure. Once the googles are off you realise drinking everyday was even worse than VHS :p
