Sadly he had it coming, he was drinking a stupid amount of booze. I probably don't know the half of it apart from he had a habit of phoning me up and being unable to speak.

Reading this thread, this forum has a lot of addicts. :/

Now I'm off the pop, today I went cycling, 13 miles almost damn near killed me! Nice to be out the house though instead of lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself.

I intend to go cycling daily. :)

Ah nice one mate! Reason I ask is that when I was out of work, I would tend to drink a lot more. Glad to hear you're doing well :)

Yeah, my drinking only got silly after I was made redundant, whilst I was working I hardly drank. Now I'm cycling it's enough to keep me off the pop because if I get drunk, I know I won't be able to cycle for a week.

Tried the new Heineken 0% over the weekend...the best I have had in 0% larger.

Pretty much tasted as Heineken only a little lighter. No sweetness to it like others and I would almost say if you handed to someone without them knowing they wouldnt know.

Brewdog Nanny State is also great if you want a Craft Ale.

Just had 2 small sample cans with my musclefood order, agree it's the best 0% I've tasted! Hard to tell it's 0%

If you drink a litre of 40% whisky in a day, you end up VERY ill and puking your guts up for 24 hours. :(

Yes I should know better, now promised my mum I won't drink again. :(

I used to or can even drink a 70cl bottle of vodka or something in 3-4 hours on a Friday eve and not be ill so yeh I know I have issues so this needs to happen for me before I ruin my life worse than the mistakes I've already made :(

My mate used to boast he drank a bottle of vodka before he went out, he was ******* massive .. died weak as a kitten and blind due to drink complications.

It's a horrible drug that will take everything from you, then come back for your life.

Last time I was in hospital I was read the riot act by a doctor who said I was lucky to be alive. I'd drunk so much water to counter act the hangover I'd washed all the vitamins and minerals from by blood..... and almost died, spent the night in Critical Care wired up to some Nintendos or something.

And yet you are still drinking

Spend time away from the forum to seek help and less time on here looking for attention would be my advice. Might sound harsh but you have been "stopping drinking" "last chance" for about 18 months now ........

What this guy said, you have written about a number of occasions where drink has put you in hospital in a serious condition, or about friends that have died due to it. And you then claim that was the last time and you will stop drinking. Yet you seem to end up doing the same thing over and over again.

I do worry, if a near death experience and the death of your friends isn't enough to stop you from drinking, then what will? Death itself?

On a similar note I used to work part time in a bar before I went travelling partly for the money and partly for the bar work experience. I used to have a few beers on a regular basis with the landlord and I remember him telling me about how he had to have various tests done on his body and the results determined that he had to be careful with his drinking usual "blokes stuff"

That was 9 years ago, thinking about it that was the beginning of the end of my drinking, it was the first time I remember thinking drinking is damaging my health and I'm uncomfortable with this.

Tuesday is his funeral - died of liver cancer.

Going to cut down massively myself. Been a difficult while but no excuse for drinking the amount I do. Especially seeing as I lead others into it as well. I can function fine, but I'm no fool, will eventually have health implications and you make silly moves when drunk anyway... :(

Not going to quit, because that's not moderation and more likely to rebounce, just going to stop (with the exception of a small night whiskey or a glass of wine) mid week drinking and on the weekend keep it social..

drank pretty much every day in july and generally drink way too much. Six days without a drop now though and no problems whatsoever (side effects / sleep problems / 'missing it'). I find it easy to drink and it's always an option as i manage a restuarant with a relaxed policy on staff boozing shall we say...but i find it just as easy to stop when i feel like it which is lucky i suppose, as i realise a lot of people truly struggle with the addiction. :(

any hoo, i think i'll do another week off, if not more and see how i feel. Helps that i've got a lot of stuff to do at the moment which doesn't involve socialising!
