One hundred pushups

How many of us are starting this coming monday then? I will be, guess it's be good to keep a group update of how everybody's getting on?

Ah ok if its just a challenge. Are people going to video it if they do 100? And lol at 45 for tank, nice one mate.

I started last night week 1 day 1 column 3, just manged all the reps and my arms aren't hurting too bad today, though my chest and back (wings) are hurting quite a bit....

Used to do 40-50 pressups in a go easily back when I was at Uni, on my knuckles, as part of my tae kwon do training but that was 19 years ago! I'm married with kids now, and haven't even tried doing push ups for years hence my poor test result, am looking forward to the challenge though as the routine will fit in nicely on the days I have of from my running training.

Been back from the gym for about 90 mins and have just managed 57

The last 4 were a bit rubish though.. and now I am struggling to type :)

Gonna try this I think

I've just got back from climbing and had my tea so not the best time to try I suppose given my arms are pretty dead already but I got to 35 and stopped, the problem is lack of breath and overheating rather than my arms giving up though. Oddly I find knuckle pressups to be slightly easier than normal, the only problem with that the indentations on my knuckles take ages to go away.

//edit and for the sake of completeness I've just done squats (55) and situps (80) to see how difficult it was, I could have gone further without too many issues but there's not any real benefit in terms of starting the programme if I was going to.

I could certainly give it a go. I've been doing them a bit recently anyhow, but not any special routine. Currently at 24 good clean ones, so starting at week 3 it appears :)

^also preferring knuckle press-ups, less wrist straining.

Going to start this on Monday along with the SitUp one just for a laugh and to see how far I can go.
I haven't done any pushups in like 5 years but back then I would happily do around 40 - 50.

Hmm, managed 50 (the last 4-5 were a struggle!), 30, 20 on my first attempt, can i give up now? :)

Might jump in at week 5 on monday and see how it goes.

I've always been able to reach 50 on my knuckles because I used to do them regularly as a kid along with pushups and situps. Copying my Dad, mainly. I think I'll give this a go. Thanks for the links! :)

I don't see the point of this? Doing 100 of anything isn't going to be that beneficial in the long run.

I could see the advantages of the program if you required a lot of stamina say like in the armed forces or something, but I agree with you dun, that for the normal person it has no applicable purpose...

I am able to do about 50 consecutive press ups. With a bit of pressup training that could easily go higher, but I dont find them very interesting and get bored easily.
