One hundred pushups

I could see the advantages of the program if you required a lot of stamina say like in the armed forces or something, but I agree with you dun, that for the normal person it has no applicable purpose...

What about people who play sport? Surely you'd get an increase in strength during performance?

We did this before, I can do between 75 and 80 push ups in a minute, and used to be able to do 90 sit ups in a minute.

And before people start posting about how they dont think thats the case, the world record for sit ups is 196 in a minute, and the record for the most push ups in 30 seconds is 102.

So I've a bit to go yet.

I'm starting this on monday, haven't done the test yet, but usually get around 14-16 before am exhaling like a pervert rubbing one out.

I used to be able to do 100 when I was playing tennis (I dont mean, whilst I was actually playing on the court :p) but now I can only do about 30-35.

I'll accept the challenge and shall start tonight!

I saw this earlier and decided to give it a whirl - 73 pushups the first time, which is quite a nice surprise as I am your typical lazy slob who has no regard for his diet or physical condition. I suppose my young age has a lot to do with this (I know a lot of you are old geezers :p)

edit: I really should add: do some stretching afterwards! You'll be sorry if you don't.

KNiVES, I am pretty sure you must be doing them wrong if you got 73 first time and you don't excercise ever.

I can do about 45-ish which is ok but still shameful considering 14 year old me did sets of 20 as part of land training before a 2hr swimming session....getting back into it though :)

Hmm, tried it today, starting at week 3 as advised. Dissapointingly, I failed at the last stage where you go for max but at least 17, and I only did 15 :(

I find a much longer rest period helps and I usually leave a "coupla songs worth" rather than just 60s, but that might be deviating from the routine too much?

on your knees with your elbows stretched out doesn't count :D

i can do around 40-50 depending if rested or not good form marine style pressups (elbows tucked in)

If you really did 73 with good form, that's very impressive. :)
