Collected my phone last night
Excellent build quality despite the low price point. Here's my initial thoughts
Pros
Build Quality
Performance is more than acceptable, no lag and very snappy
Factory fitted screen protector
Case whilst cheap, I kinda like it
Swipes work every time (circle for camera, v for torch)
Bluetooth fully supports my car (even spotify info shows up)
Looks like a big iphone 5s....which I personally think is a good thing (love the look myself)
Cons
Whilst the SDcard is detected (both Fat32 & NTFS work) it's simply unusable. The Camera app is unable to save photos to it, and it doesn't show up in the settings menu. The only way to access it is via the file manager app. Oneplus say they are working on a fix, but this should have been done prior to launch
Bluetooth misses some contacts in the car, couple of reboots and they come back
No facebook notifications, it's enabled but just doesn't work
The age old kitkat android bug is still there. On newly setup devices, when updating apps on the store they hang. You have to close and go back into it. This does it on all nexus and moto devices as well. Samsung have fixed it though.
If the phone goes to sleep whilst updating apps, they pause. This may be the phone cutting off wifi to save battery but it should be clever to know it's half way through an update.
Old version of the play store. The new one is much better.
Picking up the phone, or making a gesture is supposed to wake up the phone. This never works.
The buttons at the bottom don't light up. You can have on screen buttons, but who on earth wants two sets of buttons on a phone.
No Google Now when swiping left, which I thought it did watching some youtube videos. Have made do with the widget, but I've noticed since the latest google search update this is a bit hit and miss. The cards showing up under the static search box is great, but the actual widget isn't as good anymore.
ROM has both google and swiftkey keyboards. WHY!!!! I really hate this. If I want another keyboard I'll download one. Don't inject two keyboards into the rom please. It's like others shipping two browsers, two calendars, two mail apps. Really annoying! They have also installed the Google office suite of apps as well, again....with only 16gb memory it's stuff many people don't want. Since my employer has office 365 I use onedrive, outlook, onenote etc etc which is best with office apps. Now my phone has two office suites, google and microsoft. Since google are integrated into the rom, it's wasting memory. They could easily put store shortcuts on instead so the end user can download if they chose.
Bean emoticons need to die lol
To sum up, hardware is fantastic, rom needs some work. Brilliant for £199, very happy with it. I could give my galaxy s6 to the wife and not be angry using the oneplus x
