OnLive now FREE and WORKS in the UK!

ive not tried it yet due to the comments in here and i cba for it not to run well.
but i can see its uses if it gets better, the 2 and 5 day passes for a few quid will be so good to try out new games and see if theyre your cup of tea before paying full price for them

Gave it a go earlier, got the odd intermittent latency warnings, but I could still play. It was pretty playable if the game didn't need too much mouse movement. All of a sudden though it just wont let me play for latency issues, can't even log in :(

I'm loving this at the very least for demos, I'd be tempted to rent as well. Games Library isn't brilliant though.

That's what I meant, Steamworks. ;) What, so Mafia II is available to play? How do you get Steam achievements and things?

Yeah Mafia 2 has been available since release date apparently. Not sure how achievements etc will work though, maybe someone else can help us out? :p

Virgin capped me, think that's why I can't get back on. I'm getting 2meg, what is the minimum bandwidth supported?

Also, is it midnight they give me my 10meg back?

It was 4hrs from the last offence, don't quote me though/

Tbh it's services like this which blow a hole in the fair usage policy.

We need services like this and iPlayer to stop the ISP's from being able to put daft limits on bandwidth. Services like these will make the general population notice the limits, and when that happens things will need to change.

Errr, think you missed it mate. In a round about way, i was just saying what you are in shortend form.

I agree with you in the entirety, blanket caps in the digital distro and on demand age are insidious.

I use the skyplayer and blow the limit most nights, fortunately beyond that all i do is browse.

Im impressed with onlive, And im experiencing very little trouble with regards to latency? Im on Virgin Media's low end package, cant remember its name

I do keep getting the odd message about network trouble, But it goes away quickly and i dont spot any problem with the game atall! So far tried demo's of darksider and Saw the game.

I really do like Onlive

I'd echo these words and I'm also with Virgin Media. Has anybody managed to access onlive using a different ISP?

Can't get on at all with O2/Be* for me. I'm only on a 5mb connection, keeps saying something about latency, which is probably true, would be too high.

OK, so it is 2am in the morning and transatlantic traffic might be low but I just tried this again on my Windows 7 laptop instead of Mac OS X. I noticed I got a new option saying about a wi-fi beta so I selected that.

OnLive started straight up into the application and I spent a good ten minutes without a single video compression artifact, no warnings about lag or latency throughout the entire time. It worked perfectly.

Watching other people play is quite illuminating. There are some total MUPPETS out there. Watching somebody play Assassin's Creed II, trying to collect Templar treasure from a big cathedral - I think a blind man could do it better. The number of times s/he's fell off. :D

I was really impressed by the ability to spectate other peoples games (I think I may have even spectated your game, ic1male, the other night when I was trying it out).

The ability to just jump into a game and trial it for 30 minutes is great too.

I tried UT3 and the input lag was a bit too much but Dirt2 played pretty well and looked good. Both had FPS issues at times though.

20mbit Virginmedia connection here.
