ONM - MarioKart Wii Review

Then why are people getting defensive when people say MK is childish?

MK for the Wii is childish IMO. Cartoon animation and lots of primary colours with cartoon slapstick violence is childish imo, just like a cartoon. Doesn't mean i didn't spend all weekend playing it with the GF having a blast though. I also love Tom And Jerry, The Muppets, Bugs Bunny etc

Childish is a poor choice of words. It's a universal game, like most nintendo products.

I'm just using the same word as everyone else :p

I do agree childish might not quite be the term everyone is aiming for, but probably close enough to warrant it's use.

Don't see the issue with the graphics, for me Mk looks the same no matter what version it is on. Lesiure suit larry had childish like graphics but the content was adult.
Online paly is great but needs voip. Then again i feel that Mario games in genreal tend to appeal to the inner child in all of us. Mk is the only mario game i like, franklly i hate the plumber

If you had voice comms all you'd here is "******* leader missile!" all the time.

Lack of voice comms makes me far more likely to go online with the game tbh. And I would think its the perfect intimidation free environment to get new gamers online as well. Its just hassle free and I like that.

If you want to taunt people, you need to play them in close proximity with a DS. That way they can watch you, say, eating a sandwich at the same time as utterly destroying them.

You cant compare GTA to MarioKart. GTA was an RPG/FPS. MarioKart is a Racing Game. Two completely different games!

Now with GTA4 and its multiplay option thier might be some contest for a good racer, but until then your comparing games that were designed for completely different things i.e. you both FAIL!

I think you may have missed the point somewhat. I don't believe anyone was comparing genres... :p

At least we can agree on how much rtk fails :p

Why don't we agree on how much you can kiss my arse

Sorry, but this has really cheered me up today. For no other reason than the fact that as a quote, its very funny :D:D

Back OT

How many actually use manual steering/drifting when playing online? I find I am very un-competitive when playing online In manual mode. I have much more fun in automatic. I know many will say that its not the "proper" way to play, but I get more enjoyment this way, which is the whole point of Mario Kart IMO.

There seems to be quite a few online players more intent on causing maximum grief to others. They seem to have no intention of winning the race, just wrecking other peoples. (parking on the track, driving the wrong way etc.) Are others finding the same?

That's the case with every online racing game isn't it?
