Opinions on this first gaming PC build

Ok thanks, I'll have a look at the 1800x. Do you think there will be much difference between the 1070 and 1070ti with the 2700x?

1070ti if you can afford it . More power .
If your grabbing anything from OCUK, make sure it's before the .end of Monday .
Still wack on the 2700x/Aorus k7 bundle with 1070ti (£400) or 1080 on Dela here personally

Thanks. If I was to just leave Windows 10 unactivated will it still work? Is it right that the only thing I won't be able to do is change my screensaver?

I can currently get a Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO AMD Socket AM4 Motherboard and Gigabyte 256GB SSD for £119.99. Would you say this is a good deal? Would this motherboard be just as good as the Gigabyte - X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard and what is their SSD like?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £445.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

pre-order, but saves £10 .

ryzen 1700 saves cash as well!

would personally push 1700x with cooler and OC to 4ghz all cores!

Thanks, will this motherboard be just as good as the x470? Also what is their SSD like?

Do you know when it's being released?

VRM is a little weaker then X470 ultra. 4 high moset + 8 lower + 8 cokes vs 8/8/8 of the ultra which is wired up slightly different to a true 8 phase Aorus 5.

vast improvement over B350 Gaming 3 :)

ssd's are fast . better then budget options and most likely a little slower then flagship samsung drives. if you can notice the difference between budget ssd and top end ones- hats off to you :D

seems a lot of people were after toshiba memory business when it was up for sale- pretty good tech

Coming from Intel I didn't know too much about Ryzen, but the guys and girls at r/AMD suggested not to spend the extra £££ on a 2700x for gaming alone, as you would not notice any gains unless you play CPU intensive ones like Arma or PUBG.

RAM speed can affect CPU performance too, something that wasn't too critical with Intel. Maybe drop down to a 2600x and invest in faster RAM and/or a better GPU?

Edit: Ignore me, I missed the part about streaming.

@dirty 1700x/1800x has nice pricing currently - most likely to clear stock but locking them to all cores at 4ghz- should do well with streaming and gaming :D

wishing i went for 2700x over m 2700- worst (silicone lotto) chip i've had in a long long long while :(

@orbitalwalsh Thanks. So I can save £72 if I go for the new motherboard bundle compared to the X470 AURUS and Crucial SSD. Are you sure I'm not going to notice a difference between the motherboards? If I did decide to overclock the RAM is this possibly on the new motherboard?

Sata ports and if you want to use multiple M.2 drives in the future is only downside of b450 over x470. they didn't change much from Aorus Pro to Ultra. Its 5 and then 7 , specially 7 you see a masisve jump in design all around . Pro/Ultra should handle 3400hz ram with PCB design- just reliant on the CPU IMC

sound is exactly the same - heatsink design looks nice for the Pro personally, matches intel designs

also cant do SLi

Ok, thanks. So overall would you go for the new motherboard bundle with Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz RAM OR my original motherboard and SSD with Patriot - Viper 4 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory?

which ever would get you an 8 core ryzen and gtx 1080 :D or gtx 1070ti

more experience with team group ram over corsair, but havent had a problem with LPX set i had in x370 K5 board a while back

@orbitalwalsh You'll have to invest in Zen 2 when it comes around then :p

damn straight , dont think i'll go for the Zen2 + though- cuts it to close to DDR5 haha

I can just afford the 2700x and 1070ti with either, obviously I would like to save the £70 and could buy Windows with it, but if the motherboard and SSD aren't going to be as good as the x470 I would rather spend more. The Corsair is the only reasonably priced RAM on the QVL of the new motherboard but it says
ver3.32 next to the part number, what does this mean?

Can only recommend in so many different versions and swaps. Up to yourself now to hammer down what you'd need .

others have suggested ways for windows- we've all done it - MS makes there money were its full copies or Keys haha
SSD is better- but real world if i slapped down a Team Group £250 256gb RGB unit and kingston 240gb without benchmark numbers- you wouldn't see the difference .

review of the board

also, the ver number you can track down what IC modules are used...

had a look, not samsung b-die :(

Ok, thanks! Last question, the 1080 is currently £12 more expensive than the 1070 ti, is there much difference between them and would it be worth getting the cheaper new motherboard to upgrade to this?

Believe £450 deal on here was over, unless you can find one similar else where.
To be honest normal gaming, not to much difference. 1070ti can be clocked to match 1080 at stock . And in term 1080 can be clocked to pull ahead.
VR you'll notice a difference due to ram speed and fill rates etc , and with streaming , every little bit of GPU power to get a steady stream frame rate is better .
Why most are on 1080 at higher levels , defacto without paying 1080ti £££
