Ordered a viper green scirocco!

never heard anyone say it like that. Sirocko is how i've always said and how most people i know say it.

Well, not that its important, but thats not how its pronounced:)

Its not even open to interpretation, what you are saying is a completely different word, it exists, but thats not what the car is called.

From Wiki.

"The Scirocco name derives from the Italian word for the Sirocco wind — and the period in its history when Volkswagen named vehicles after prominent winds, including also Passat (after the German word for Trade wind), Golf (after Gulf Stream), Bora (after Bora), Polo (after Polar Winds), and Jetta (after Jet stream)"

Shame they don't go like the wind. :p

Yep, hence shi-rocko

If you're happy and can afford to lose money (which you will, seriously), then who really cares?

Were there better financial options than this? Almost certainly, and the car would be much better with a larger engine, but at the end of the day, it's your money.

Enjoy your new car :)

Exatly.

It isn't a finance package (Well not in the way you are thinking), it's a PCP. It's a lease with an OPTION to purchase - but the option to purchase is seperate, it's like buying a used car at the end of the package. It isnt 'paying off the finance'.

He is renting the car for 3 years. After those 3 years, VW will collect it and retail it or send it to auction like any other lease car would, but in this case they will first offer it to him to buy at the GFV price.

It's not a loan secured on the vehicle.

This is not true, whilst you have correctly identified that registered keeper and legal owner are two seperate things, if we purchased our cars we do indeed own them 100%. You own your car just as much as you own your graphics card. The government does not own your car.

The state could technically come along, and remove them. Or outlaw them.

We could do nothing.

As for the first bit, sorry foxy, didn't notice the "got it on three yr PCP with GAP insurance" :(

The thing that surprises me about this car, is that it looks so lovely and modern with sleek, clean lines.... why on EARTH did they spec the lowest engine as a 1.4? It almost seems insulting.

Having said that, I drove a 1.6 Golf Bluemotion not so long ago, and it was excellent!

But still... 1.4 in a car that looks so fast seems incredulous.

Well, then I see no advantages at all to lease a car.

I have had no clue about leasing cars but assumed that because it's not your car, it's not your problem if a third party does something to it.

Basically, you're expected to pay all the running costs (unless it's a maintained lease) and hand it back in good condition.

Business leasing (typically Business Contract Hire) makes sense for company cars for tax purposes (they can claim back half the VAT), ease of replacement and predictable monthly payments. The last of these is especially the case with maintained leases, where all routine servicing and maintenance (tyres etc) is included (all the VAT can be reclaimed on this). Basically the only thing the company has to pay for on top is the insurance and, as they'll typically have a fleet policy, this is also cost-effective.

Personal leasing makes far less sense IMO. Yes you get a new car and yes, if you opt for a maintained lease, you get stable monthly payments with all servicing included but you still have to insure it yourself and, as you can't reclaim any of the VAT, it works out far more expensive than the equivalent BCH contract.

Just seen a camo rocco driving through Lightwood it was tan and brown lol looked mean though it also had some big roundish symbol on the drivers door probably lives in meir

Personal leasing vs. company leasing is very fiddly. At my last place of work we occasionally did consultancy work to figure out whether it was more cost effective for an employer to lease a car for an employee, or to buy the car, or to give the employee more cash for PCP... There were so many factors to consider and it could go any which way.

It's not so much the 1.4 which is the issue, it's *that* particular 1.4 which is.

The 160PS 1.4 is a very reasonable engine, 0-60 in 8 secs puts it in luke-warm hatch territory. Even if you do need to rev the **** off of it.
