At the end of the day its a good thing and Valve/Steam need to do something of similar alternative. I think i will play some of my acquired games through Tunngle now and turn my back on some of devs that rip off the customer. Two can play that game;)

This is a great move, there have been times on steam i've got a game and it's been complete pants and i'd wish i'd never spent my money. Thus I tend to head towards yarrr first then buy

Pretty bold move

Though honestly, I don't use origin much either way, on the basis the majority of their "exclusive" titles are overpriced garbage, in the same breath their backup facilities were non-existent without using unofficial workarounds

If they fixed the last bit, I'd give them a second glance... sure we all have 100+mb connections now, but isps get real whiney about excessive usage at the drop of a pin (especially mine) which isn't hard to achieve when your talking 20gb downloads.. infact I actually just had a glance at the client to see if I was wrong in hope they'd actually sorted it, and it still appears to be down to using the "copy folders + repair installation" workaround, pretty shoddy

Though I'd also mention, its not like I'm using steam much either of late.. generally speaking I find the majority of new releases to be disapointing.. I probably look more forward to checking good old games each week :)

Not suprised, have seen enough horror stories from looking over OH shoulder when she has problems with the sims 3 store
Their web support is either automated, or simply has scripts which match key words in the customers sentance and give the CS rep the option to respond via binded sentances
Only way to get a proper resolution with any origin problem is to have the issue escalated to a supervisor, it'll take longer but you'll get a proper response
I'd also point out I've not seen a single one of their sodding "discount" codes via customer service which has actually worked when used.. its almost like the things expire the same day you get them

It doesn't matter if the product is faulty, if you were billed twice etc
If you cancel it via your bank/credit company origin will outright ban your account either until they resolve it on their end (actually realize their system made a boo boo) or they'll make it permenent for defrauding

Its pretty common place for a lot of digital distribution providers (or even online games) to block account access when you dispute payment, you just don't hear about it as much as you do with Origin, because most other places have a clue what their doing. I recall steam doing something simular at one point but honestly I don't use either service enough anymore to notice if they still do

This could prove interesting for games such as COD with a 5hr playthrough time... :p

I'd be surprised if they couldn't use one of these % of game completed achievement tracking things and have a clause that if you've played 50+ % of the game then you also can't return it. Though depends on the game 50% of skyrim vs 50% of COD. I also wouldn't mind if they did that as it seems fair. if everyone buys short games off EA and returns them, they'd can the program and ruin it for everyone and there are plenty of people that would happily do that.

There have been at least 3-4 games I would have returned in the past based on how crap they were.

So this "Great game guarantee" is a farce, waited 3 weeks for a refund, and still nothing. Good guy EA? Sure. They can't do the simplest of tasks because they're an incompetent bunch of morons. Don't be fooled by this veil of ****, they have not changed.

Yup, what's £40 to a company as big as EA? They clearly have no ****ing idea about customer satisfaction. I'm going to call the offices tomorrow and make sure this issue is solved, if not I'm going to call every day until i have got my refund, I've left it 3-4 days between contact each time, which is clearly not pestering them enough. So i'll have to throw my toys out of the pram in order to get back my money.

Indeed, called them today, same old "Escalating it to a specialist team" and was told "It can take some time to investigate". Nothing given for the inconvenience of missing £45 from my account for coming on to a month, and having to chase them multiple times. Will leave it until next Thursday, and see if they've decided to honour me by refunding back my money.

If not I'm going to hit the roof.

1. Their pricing is shocking.

2. I don't believe them and I expect if you tried to use this service they'd wriggle and **** you around until you gave up.

No thanks EA, shove it.

4 support chats and 2 phone calls later refund is here, a full month later when they quote 5-7 working days.

No more buying any EA games for me, I'll find other means to get them.
