**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I still dont get what the problem is tbh, turrets are designed to hard counter air. Do you want terrans to be defenceless to cheese void ray rushes? ;/

well since the latest patch the terran turret takes out 3 tier1 void rays now (turret tier0) , does that not seem overpowered to you ? . stopped playing it now as they have well and truely fracked this beta

Void Rays take time to power up to full strength, they are (more or less) designed to attack units that won't fight back.

If you encountered only one turret, why didn't you move your void rays outside of its attack range and attack another target (or the same target from a different angle)?

The whole point of SC is it is a cat and mouse game of adapting your units and tech to ensure you have the upper hand over your opposition. If you go all in with one unit type or tech then you will be susceptible to hard counters.

Will you be on tonight? I had a couple of practice games last night, and wasn't happy with the way I was playing (couldn't manage my build order or macro) I just kept making stupid little mistakes, and if I'm struggling with the macro then I'd have no chance with the micro.

I'll have a game tonight, will post and let you know because going out at 8-about 10 so will have a game later on

Had the best game yet yesterday. Me as terran with another terrran against protoss and terran.

We rushed with marines and maruders and took out all protoss units and half of the terran, pumped out more units and attacked again, this time wiping out the terran apart from some scvs. Somehow they transported scvs to an island in corner of the map to carry on getting minerals. (presumably to share with protoss) However the protoss player was well underway with a mothership, a couple of vortex rays and carriers!

Whilst we had been massing ground units protoss had been busy with air, we attacked ground again but his air was too strong. Protoss expanded and obviously gave resources back to terran. Terran than made some titans (think they were titans) flying things than land and attack ground. 20 carriers and a mothership wiped out my ally and came on the attack for me. He managed to release an scv to top where enemy terran started. I massed anti air but couldnt hold when the titants came in.

Great Game

Vikings ;) the Air unit that transforms into the ground unit.

You probably should have gone Vikings, BattleCruisers and Ravens :dunno: too when you realised he was going Mass Air... Although in saying that I still don't know what to do when Protoss go mass Carriers. I think GG is about all. (Some would argue you deserve to lose if you let your opponent Mass Carrier)
You have to Micro like mad to ensure your units are not shooting the interceptors.
I've not tried it but I think the Ravens Hunter seeker missile might be quite useful against a carrier/interceptor swarm as it has a large AOE and the BattleCruisers Yamato (Tomato :D) gun would put a fair bit of pain into a Carrier

Hmmm thinking about it a bit more, mother ships and carriers are quite slow and the Protoss guy would want to have a lot of his army under the mother ship so that they are cloaked. The Ravens will spot the cloaked units and several Seeker missiles into the slow Mothership will punish the mothership and everything under it. But you will still need something to soak up the Attacks from whatever is under the mothership to give you a chance to fire off all your seeker missiles.

Also if he uses the mothership vortex then send all your units into it. That way when they come out of it you have still got a massive army (rather than 2 smaller armys)

i like playing protoss with the ghosts and the cloaks, i like the colossus also.

for terran the thor is cool

Dark Templers. Ghosts are the Terran Sniper ;)

The turret nerf may tempt chaotic back ;)

Although the photon cannon buff may make cannon rushes more popular, make sure you scout round your bases early :)

That's the drawback if there's not enough Copper League players online ready to play at the same time you're looking for a match I suppose.

I'll probably only be playing at peak EU times to hopefully only get same level players.
