**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

here we go :

It's an all in, basically builds just basic, non upgraded marines along with all his svcs. It often catches people off guard, but if it doesn't work he's lost. If you've not seen it already watch some pro protoss and see how they wall off with gateway, cybernetics core and a zealot (or pylon if desperate, then destroy after) and get an early sentry to put force fields on the ramp. Scouting is key as well, scout if hes getting gas, if not its a marine push or fast expand, prepare for worst if you dont know.

Basically all in plays are a massive risk to them, but people do it because it's easy to win with. Don't worry about this kind of cheese, if you can learn to eventually defeat it then you'll always win against them as they've destroyed any future economy.

BJames hit the nail on the head there with no scouting.

It looks like you were going for a 4gate, which even if perfectly executed will not work against this sort of push. For instance, your gates were idle at points due to saving up minerals for the 4th gate. You needed to concentrate on getting units out on the field. Chronoboosting unit production rather than warptech.

After the first pylon goes down, send your probe out, especially important on the big maps. Or at least send one after the first gateway goes down.

If he hasnt got the gas refinery down but has 15+ units in his base, you can expect some sort of mass marine play.

Another point, I guess the game was done so not sure if you didnt do this because of that, but once his SCVs are also ripping through your base you need to pull your probes off the mineral line so they can get stuck in or soak up some fire at least.

Not sure if everyone would agree with above advice but I think it would have helped your situation there.

I got put in silver and lost the first three games I played :(
Hoping thats just a strategy issue though and that I'll stay there!
