**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Blizzard removed it ages ago, was called Flux Vanes.

Yeh, thats the one. They are slow as hell without it :(

What other upgrades / downgrades has the game had in about 6 months? I was searching through all the upgrade uptions for it whilst trying to build more units and counter at the same time last night

The thing is I don't have any problem with having ghosts aswell as Vikings with my MMM for the AOE units but you have to be incredibly quick with the EMPs because those ghosts are almost always certainly first to go when they're upfront to EMP the HTs where-ever they might be.
I get a lot of friends telling me it's collisi that they find hard to deal with but for me it's HTs due to it basically being instant damage on your army and not much to do about it.

This, collossus are simple retreat your army and swing your vikings around to get them to attack from the side.

My issue against HT's is for the most part i am quite a defensive player, im not yet good enough to be trading armies its usually win or loose in a single fight.. as a result the HT's usually come at me and storm me before i can EMP them... If i was the aggressive player and could get off some cloaked EMP's before the fight began things may go much better but thats easier said that done.

Good luck getting the EMPs off within the collosi's range if there's an observer(s). Everything's against us Terrans.

Hopefully HotS will add a better way to go so that AOE dmg doesn't rape most T units.

In PvP is it worth getting 3-6 phoenix out to counter 3 gate robo and lifting the immortals while your stalkers trade in early stages? Was thinking you can sweep to the mineral lines and harass after you win the battle and put them on the back foot. Not tried it so far though.

Not unless you open with it. A stargate Phoenix opening is probably the most devastating if done right and either not scouted or not dealt with properly. It's also very micro intensive so unless ur micro is good I wouldn't try it without practice first.

Well i already got told i can change over, - [snipped out the image for neatness]
I'm just not sure how you switch between EU & US, because i don't have a retail copy of the us sc2.

To have the ability to play on two different regions, you need 2 licenses of SC2 (one for each region) and 2 copies of the SC2 client installed (one for each region).

After you have replied to that e-mail in your post saying you want to switch one of your licenses over to the US, go to the battle net website and log in and go to the "account" page. Click on the icon for your US server licence, then on the next page click "install/reinstall the game". This will download you the US client. Make sure you install it to a different directory to the one which your EU client is installed in, otherwise it will overwrite.

After that's done, you can play. Just open the client for whichever region you want to play in, and enter your username and password which are associated with the licence for that region.

Make sense? If you have any more questions just ask. I've got a US and an EU account and I use them both regularly :D. The US server is about half a league worse (I am very high diamond on that, but mid diamond in EU).

Just bought the game (Skyrim and FM took up most of my days) is there a certain clan to go with Zerg, Protoss or Terran or are they all equal?

They are all fairly balanced, but each have a unique playstyle. A lot of it is down to personal preference.

At the highest levels of play there are arguments as to which race is the most powerful, but for the average Joe player they are so close it doesnt matter.

Wrong.

Protoss are by far the easier to play at a good level than the other two. Terran requires quite high micro and Zerg requires a lot of mechanics and a certain play style.

You will ultimately find the race you want to play and make sure to stick to one after a while or you'll find it hard to improve.

No protoss is easier to learn and get good at because there mechanics are are so forgiving (FF's and ability to turtle on 2 base and get a huge deathball), but they are hard to master. But saying that the other day Sheth on his stream decided to play a game v terran randomly and crushed a zerg (masters) and just was like... lol marines are good.

I started just fine with Zerg.

Your statement that Protoss are easy to learn may be correct, but your assertion that I am wrong is not.

My comments were regarding balance and not ease of use, your justifying point is completely tangential.

Anyone can start with any race and be fine but Toss are easiest to use and easiest to play at a higher level than Bronze.

I won't argue with you about Toss imba because I really don't care if you see the light or not XD
