**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Thought as much. Though my fingers are only really able to stretch to the 1-6 keys so I guess I'll use them as the control groups I can't reach.

Do you guys ever get "GG for you now" as they're attacking, then they lose? I find that pretty funny, as they always try and turn it around and pretend it was them saying 'GG I knew I was gonna lose'

Yea sometimes. I do GG when I'm attacking at times but only when they're not refusing to give up and I've got like 150 supply with an army wrecking through their main base.

What are peoples thoughts on the Zerg changes?

Lots of debates on the TL forums about how it will totally ruin TvZ,
As a not very good terran I am not sure I see it personally, it will reduce the effectiveness of reactor hellion, but surely not by as much as everyone thinks?

I think all the changes apart from overlord speed were stupid. Just making it easier when Zergs dont really have any trouble with what the changes counter.

Observer build time is just idiotic.

Changes were implemented last night

Agree on the changes (I'm terran!). But to be honest until Z or P start crushing T's in the GSL blizz won't realise that. Doesn't matter that us poor terran scrubs are already struggling on ladder even before these changes....

I agree with frankmcg and Kamwah. OL speed is ok but obs and queen buff is just stupid and not even something players had been asking for. When was the last time someone in diamond upwards complained about being unable to deal with early terran harass? I haven't heard any. Also the attack animation on the 5 range queen sucks. It looked really cool before but now it's just boring.

The worst thing is that reaper opening are now completely useless. Hellion opening are nerfed somewhat but will probably still remain the standard.

My biggest problem with the change is that ir reduces the variety available from T but doesn't increase the options that Z have. The very last thing that SC2 needs is less variety in gameplay. Most games which don't involve cheese pretty much play out exactly the same at the moment and it's pretty boring to watch compared to brood war.

Biggest issue I have in TvZ at the moment is the Z that just sits behind his 14/15 hatch, gets 1 or 2 spines to defend plus 3 or 4 queens and drones up to like 60 before building any units. He knows that unless T is doing something cheesy he's totally safe from any early marine/hellion pressure and then around the 8 min mark can switch to mass ling etc and take a 3rd and immediately saturate it. Meanwhile the T is sitting on about 40 SCVs at the time plus a couple of mules and so is miles behind in economy. It then just snowballs downhill for me from there.

Anyway the reason for the above semi-rant is that all the most recent changes do is make Z even safer early game now to mass drone with nothing T can do about it. Plus with OL turbo boost scouting they can get a perfect read on what T is up to for any banshee/marauder shenanigans.

I feel blizz are getting rid of some early game plays here that will just lead to more macro games , like what happened with SC1.
As a toss ( no hate please :L) i dont think I will notice a massive difference as I am still in too low a league.
However at the top level I think it will help toss, as much as you guys say that toss is overpowered on ladder protoss in tournaments have not been having a lot of luck over the past few months ( may be wrong now haven't kept up with tournaments much over the past month ) so it could help high level play but I don't think it will make a massive difference at low levels

Biggest problem in vP and vZ is that Terran has to be the aggressor and that can be hard especially for lower league players.
I don't think Blizz understand how hard it is for someone whose new to the game (whether they have RTS experience or not) to look at a Zergs base and think "Spine crawlers, queens, lings,BANELINGS and roaches.. How the hell am I supposed to get in there? Especially when he's going to A move"
It is something that goes away with practice and learning about the matchups but a lot of people just keep playing and don't actually readup on SC2.

I'm finally going to give SC2 a go in multiplayer. Played a lot in single player (skirmishes and campaign). Are there any good tips that I should be aware of when playing PvP? I don't want to suck too bad

PvP is probably the worst matchup IMO. ZvZ also ranks up there as being a nuisance.

Look up some builds on Wiki and don't forget observers!

Other way round I'd say. PvP can be quite good fun in the midgame, ZvZ i find is just unpleasant all the way through..

Well personally I don't mind PvP. I know loads of people who absolutely hate it though.

ZvZ is hectic and can be fun with baneling hits XD

In all seriousness though, Zergs find it hard because they've adopted the playstyle of mass-droning before making any units all on 2 spine crawlers and a few spores to stop airplay. They think their pros =/

Yeaa the one part i generally like in ZvZ is the very start, microing lings and banelings. It's just if it goes any further, no thanks from me :p

This series of games is pretty good. Destiny's whole point is that if you are under diamond league it is almost guaranteed that your macro is sub-par and that you are wasting your time focusing on strategy or micro.
Get more money, more production, more territory, more efficiency.

He's completely wrong. I'll ignore the fact that Destiny is a major ******* and focus on why he's wrong.

Destiny hasn't been a good player since the Infestor nerf. He was good when he had that single OP unit to abuse but Blizz rightfully nerfed it.

Since Destiny has fallen out of any kind of pro-level the SC2 scene has changed on the ladder.
These days Bronze-Gold has the most varying skill levels from players who cheese every game to players who just don't have enough time to play but are generally much better than their current league.
If you don't focus on improving your Strategy or Micro you may one day reach a higher league and realize you're absolutely horrid and can't actually play at this level.
