**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

It's a brilliant game. Been playing it for about a year now and still not bored. I've just switched to random and finding the fun again after playing solely with protoss, such is the depth of this game.

Join the OcUK channel in game for team game fun.

Finally got around to reinstalling the game \o/. Don't really have much time to play but would be up for team games sometime!

Yay! :D I'm trying to be on more often for teamgames myself atm, hopefully there should be some decent 3v3s/4v4s to be had, i reckon we can get a decent OcUK 3v3 team into masters tbh ;)

It's a fun game, the basics are relatively easy to grasp but the skill cap is the highest of any game I've ever played before.

Once you've played for a bit, check out some pro streams on twitch and you'll see what I mean :P

I managed to get quite a few games in over the weekend but had a bit of a mixed bag of results, a 5 match losing streak wasn't great :o.

Gradually getting there with builds now, up to 15th in Bronze, however the majority of match-ups I am getting are mid/high Silver players :(.

Definitely more practice needed.

Wheeeeee :D means you're getting better!

Joined the channel and had a few games tonight with Dan and 'theconker' (not sure of his name on here :P). We did OK, placed plat then handed out some beat downs. I'l be in there fairly often if folk want a game, IGN is Crafty.

Yeah they were some good games tonight, especially that one where I was the whipping boy....

I'm generally having more fun with the game playing random nowadays. I had never played terran/zerg in ranked games before two weeks ago, so just decided to learn them by playings 4s and it's so much more fun now.

I'm itching to get back into this game and I reckon if I play for a few hours I'll get back up to a decent level again. The problem is I have no time at the moment to play any games at all, let alone one as time-consuming as SC2.

:(.

I'll be getting HOTS though, and hopefully I'll have more time around then to play with you guys :). I haven't played in months now but I still keep up with the scene and balance changes etc.

That's a good thing.

Save those sad emoticons for the day you're the guy in high silver being pitted against bronze-leaguers.

Thanks guys, though I reckon Silver is still a bit of a way off. Had a couple of games last night, TvT and TvP and won both, opponents were ranked 2nd and 6th in Bronze respectively.

Both were pretty close games, however in the TvP game I couldn't have ballsed up my 111 any more but managed to push through.

I have been interested about getting into SC recently, LoL and DotA aswell. I would like to start with SC though, I just have a few questions I was hoping one of you could answer:

1: Is there a Campaign/Story Mode you can go through in the games to kind of get to grips with the game engine?

2: If there is a Campaign, do you have to play through SC1 before SC2 to understand the story?

Let me know, thanks.

There is a pretty good campaign on SC2 which gives a good background story as to what happened in SC1 which is handy, as I didn't played SC1 either :). It is generally very good for getting you into the game with the controls etc, however if you're looking to play online I would personally practice against the AI first to get your speed up and then look at some videos/streaming of Bronze/Silver players so you get an idea of build orders etc.

Hope that helps however there are a lot of far more experienced players on here than me that are happy to help :)

Appreciate it, cheers =) That's the idea, get to grips with the game by playing CPU then some youtube research before even thinking about online.

To be honest mate, I think in bronze-silver you'd be better off playing macro in TvP and just out-producing them. Try 1 rax fast expand, into fast medivacs and a fast 3rd base. At around 9:30 when first medivacs come out, drop his main and have the rest of your bio near his natural... when your drop hits, I guarantee at that level he will pull his entire army to deal with it, then you just stim and run up into his natural and it's GG.

Just remember, on 1 base = 3 rax, 2 base 7 rax, 3 base 10+ rax. Keep them all on say, hotkey 4 and just keep hitting '4, DDD AAAAAAAAAA DD AAAAA' all the time. You will just have more **** than him, which is what it's all about until you hit like high gold/low plat.
