**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Horrible day yesterday - lost just about every match in 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 - just awful. Days like that make you want to pack up and stop playing.

Need to scout better, and expand faster - watching the replays i give away so much map control it's ridiculous.

Still highlight of the day was a widow mine drop into the mineral line that took out 24 drones with 3 mines!

It's always funny speaking to low league players cos a lot of them think they're playing good enough for promos and then you point out the problems which is hilarious.

i "know" i'm not good enough - just get frustrated when I play crap and make stupid/poor decisions about my play.

i don;t think I would/could send you my replays - that would be embarrassing! Thanks for the offer - I'll add you later and get a few games or something.

Not asking you to send, it's much easier to explain if we watched together due to the group replay now available.

Who's seen the new changes Blizzard are making to tournaments then? They're here for reference: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=405929

Basically GSL/OSL are now the same thing (3 seasons this year since it's part way through already) and will now be known as WCS Korea. Then there'll be WCS Europe (again 3 seasons this year, run by ESL (the guys that run IEM) and WCS NA (run by MLG), MLG and IEM is, afaik, going to carry on as normal, there may be points given to those competing in other tournaments (like MLG, IEM, DH etc) but that's so far undecided/announced. All the tournaments will follow GSL's current format with Code A>Up&Downs>Code S style. WCS NA and EU will be held online (although there's talk of a live event for the top 16), WCS KR will be held in GOM's studio for the first and third season, and in OGN's for the second.

The top players from each WCS (5 or 6 from each iirc, it'll say in the link) will then compete at a live event. Points will be given out during the 3 seasons (and maybe some from others as I said above) and there'll be a final event at Blizzcon.

Anyone can compete in any region, but once they compete in a region they're locked to it for that season. So everyone in Code S atm won't be able to then compete in WCS NA or EU this season.

I don't know how I feel about it atm, the first season should be fine because all the good Koreans are locked into WCS Korea so atleast that'll still be the highest standard this season, but next season I can see Koreans splitting up and taking part in the other regions (EGTL players have already tweeted that maybe they should compete in WCS NA or EU) which means that WCS KR will no longer have all the best players, just some of them with some worse players mixed in (and in turn the other regions will also be like this) and there'll be a lot of time spent just watching matches that are terrible. The finals will (hopefully) have all the best players, so maybe it won't be that bad, but that's still only a small tournament . If the Koreans stick with just KR the whole thing (grand finals and WCS NA and EU) will be a joke though (the same as WCS NA and EU, and the grand finals with Koreans just stomping all the foreigners will be this season :p).

Edit: It's the top 5 from each area and then one more from the host region iirc actually :).

It's ridiculous and stupid.

There is a reason that it works in a way with LoL/Dota and that's because they're teamgames with much better backings and profits.

I don't know why I said I was undecided and then proceeded to say it was ****, I guess my post shows that I'm not that undecided :D.

I have no idea whether it will "work" in the way Blizzard intend, I just think it's going to either make the competition worse (if Koreans compete in different regions) or a joke (if foreigners get paid as much as Koreans for being terrible) :o.

I have no idea about the DotA2/LoL scene tbh, never had any interest in either game.

I promise you it will not work without stringent rules which would make most people scream "racist!"

Non-Koreans simply need to play better. Giving foreigners free prize money in their own special pre-school tournaments is so not the way forward.

Nor is shutting them out and letting the Koreans come over and take everything.
The west has a much less flexible education system, it's not as easy as in Korea to just be fine being a Gamer in or out of education.

The majority of non-Koreans are not full-time gamers and those who are aren't dedicated enough but I don't blame them, have you seen all the health problems the Koreans get because they practice so much?

And that's from someone who doesn't like any non-Koreans.

Just started playing again now HotS is out and enjoying the game a lot more than WoL.

Does anyone use a mechanical keyboard for SC2? Thinking of getting one to replace my ageing G15.

Not expecting it to improve my play but wondering if anyone has found the transition difficult to get used to when playing?

I got my first mechanical keyboard (CM Storm TK) 2 weeks ago and I am loving it, makes me feel bad about using rubber dome keyboards for so many years. Took me a day or two to get used to, enjoying SC even more now with my new KB :)
