**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

If they turn it into a planatary fortress with scv support it can kill you outright if you don't react appropriately (and quickly enough). Basically once the pf is done, if you don't have an immortal and a few stalkers you are dead.

What?

As in, drop a CC in your base - how the hell would that work?

That's my point. I can't even fathom to imagine at what point this person thought it was a good idea! :p

He planted it in my natural and not my main, but it's still equally as stupid really. It was his only one as well. By the time I realised he had about 1 or 2 marines which my army annihilated!

Is the fortress that quick to build AND that powerful?

I guess it could work with two dropped on you, might try this tonight and see how quickly it can be achieved. Just for kicks. :D

Sorry i didnt make it back online tonight, ended up forced into a pub after the curry. Should be online again tomorrow afternoon, this time on a wired connection.

Note: Playing SC2 over a wireless LAN = bad times!! :(

No worries. Got stuck watching football last night anyway!

Yeah, the lag was pretty bad!

It does work if your up against people who have never seen it before/noobs, but you can easily stop it by putting a single SCV underneath it to stop it landing.

i dunno how anybody would not notice a CC flying into their base... then allowing the time it takes for it to be transform into a PF, without attacking it with a couple of units ^^

I guess it takes a lot to kill a CC, especially with only a few basic units at the start?

I would have thought if the PF were that powerful it would be better dropping it a little wider of the base out of shot i.e. at the entrance and then draw the enemy out? But, is it THAT potent?

Just put a single unit underneath it, and you've stopped their entire strategy..

Which is rather daft if you think about it, would be funnier if it could land and squad the units! :D

... now THAT would be a fun strategy, a load of floating barracks just dropping on the enemy to squish them and then dishing out marines. One can only dream! ;)

Well, it can carry 6 SCV's to the opponents base which can unload and repair whilst the PF upgrade is ongoing. That increases it's life span a bit but it really is easy to stop when spotted and they're screwed then.

Apparently PDD's are considered to be buildings now and can not be feedback'ed, confirm as a bug.

So, I guess take advantage of it.

On a side note phoenix's bug is pretty big isn't it, they don't shoot when they get stuck in the graviton beam animation...so annoying.

It takes an already micro intensive unit, and makes it twice as intensive. Yeah you can blame that bug as for why PvP is now almost exclusively 2 gate fast robo.

Whats the strategy for that? I've had a bit of success with 4gate recently, but as ever want to learn a few more strategies. I presume this is intended to counter a fast Marine/Maurader rush?

All the 2gates I've seen just look to me like they'd fall to an early rush.
