Oscar Pistorius thread

Hmmm. Judge says he is not setting a precedent. Gives overview of Pistorius' statement. Goes straight to summarising bail requirements. Seems to be going one particular way.

I don't need to read your post again, read mine, I was generalising across multiple people in the thread also, again if you hear someone and want to hide in the nearest place, don't you think if you had a torch, leaving it on would be a dead give away... its ever more likely that someone who dived inside the nearest room to hide would also turn out any light or any torch to not give themselves away.

Point 3, burglars don't gain access through non ground floor windows, thats a new one. More people leave windows open upstairs because they think the same way, and burglars will go through an open window over a closed door. From what I recall they've also stated there were ladders outside the window, making it again more likely to gain access through there than anywhere else.

There are multiple reasons for an intruder to end up in just about any room in a house with the door shut and the lights off. I just find it funny there are so many people in this thread who suggest its almost impossible for an intruder to end up in the bathroom with a door shut, when I can think of loads, not least it being the most likely entry point. The toilet of course being the window most likely to be open in every house :p

Thats ridiculous. The burglar has just come in through the big bathroom window, hears someone and rather than going backwards and leaving decides to abandon his escape route and lock himself in the toilet cubicle?

Few things that I do not get while listening to this statement.

- He says he shouted to the person on the toilet, he said he did this a few times. If so why did she not answer from the other side of the door? And why did he not realise she had not replied when he shouted for her to ring the police. (While in the same room as her?)

- Why after finding out he shot her did he go downstairs and lock the front door...? Why was it not already locked? Why did he not just dial for help?

Also this statement is dragging on a bit!

Justice for the rich I reckon. Expensive legal team pull apart a rather botched investigation and discredit the leading investigator.

Of course I accept innocent till proven guilty but could you really see all this happening if he a state funded legal team?

Sounds like he's leaning away from Pre-meditated due to lack of hard evidence thus far

Christ, thought I'd hear the eastenders drum roll when he said about an adjournment then... talk about cliffhanger

Not convinced about bail. Magistrate seems to be starting to err towards detaining him.

[edit] although the fact this is taking so long gives the impression that he feels he needs to thoroughly justify his decision - which seems to be imply bail.

Ok so she didnt even sneak into the bathroom she got dressed first.

And he didnt notice

Come on

She was wearing white shorts and a black vest top, the prosecutors said she was dressed, the defence said this was sleepwear.

This magistrate is very frustrating.

Indeed as I said earlier that's standard sleep wear for a lot of young women.
