Perhaps the fear of getting butt-loved by some 6'5" black fellow who is understandably still a tad miffed about that ghastly Apartheid thing whilst doing hard time (intentional) is kicking in. It's not exactly like he can run away.
 
I didn't find his sobbing convincing and thought that his testimony sounded coached ("perceived it to be an intruder"). By the sound of it he had an unsafe attitude towards firearms and anger issues. Whatever the law is regarding non-premeditated homicide is in SA, that's what I feel he should be convicted of.
 
Don't get me wrong, I think hes guilty but I wouldn't read much into a photo. You cant tell what the context is, for all we know he might have just been about to sneeze. He could have wind, who knows.

Sat watching the evidence, I didn't expect them to actually show a crime-scene photo of her head-wound, I thought they'd filter that out..
 
Why didn't he call out her name as he had the gun aimed at the door?

I don't know about others on here but if I'm upstairs and think I've heard someone come up quietly or someone is there I'll call out their name just so I don't get surprised (frightened! :p) meeting them around a corner.
