Oscar Pistorius thread

I can't believe people are feeling sorry for him and saying he should be let off . Hope the Judge isn't as easily fooled by his fake emotion, no wonder he was named Oscar..

I'm not buying the idea that he thought it was a burglar and just sprang into action.
I guess only two people really know what happened, unfortunately one of them is dead. I suppose one would follow the evidence where it leads them?.

Springbok rugby player "Vleis" Visagie accidentally shot dead his daughter thinking she was a car thief, Visagie and his wife Frieda were asleep at home at their plot in Maggiesdal, outside Nelspruit, when his wife woke up early on Sunday morning, shouting that someone was trying to steal their daughter's car. The car was moving out of the gate and Visagie allegedly took his firearm and shot at the car. They later discovered that it was their daughter Marle, on her way to surprise her boyfriend Brand Pretorius for his birthday.

And this is why it's a really, really terrible idea to think that the use of firearms to prevent the theft of inanimate objects is a good idea.

A newscaster said Pistorius broke down in the witness box so they adjourned for the day. I had visions of him being taken to Robocops chair so they could fix his legs.

Agreed.

Pistorius wasn't trying to prevent theft of an easily replaced item though, he feared for his life and the life of his girlfriend which is a totally different situation.

Coming back to common sense land and why I'm sure he's guilty...

* EVERYONE, including a paranoid gun nut, would call out to their loved one to see where they are

* why would anyone shoot through a door, hit her in the thigh, have her scream, then shoot 3 more times?

* why would anyone say "everything is okay" when security calls you after the screaming and her death?

Premeditated murder it wasn't, spur of the moment rage induced killing it was.
