Oscar Pistorius thread

just sums up the ridiculous nature of society today and the quite obvious disparity between the life of a celebrity and the life of you or I. You think the common man that puts 4 bullets through a door of his bathroom while their other half isn't in bed would have their case drawn out for public spectacle, not give the murder charge and now talk about house arrest or even community service. We'd be hung, drawn and quartered in a heart beat...just laughable.

Let this be a lesson to all would be burglars...

When you have broken into your victims house DO NOT lock yourself in the toilet screaming for your life.

Indeed makes you laugh they originally booked in 3 weeks I think for the trial!! 7 months ago this thing started!

It's going to take several days to even decide a sentence, are all South African trials like this?! You'd imagine they must have a massive backlog of cases if this is the speed they get through them!

The worst thing is.,it really is an open and shut case.

You can try and spin it anyway you like, he has murdered someone and is most likely going to get away with it.

This is what we are supposed to believe happened:

He wakes up.
Hears a noise in the bathroom.
Takes his gun.
With no warning at all fires four shots through the door.
Is surprised to find its his girlfriend in there.
Much wailing and gnashing of teeth ensues.

What's wrong with that picture?
Here's a clue, EVERYTHING.

The problem is with this story is anything outside of that completely ludicrous scenario incriminates him as a murderer.
Did he check for his girlfriend?
No.
Did he warn whoever was in the toilet he was going to fire?
No.
Did he call the police or security?
No.
Did he leave the house and call for help?
No.

Did he do anything a sane and rational human being would do who wasn't intent on killing that person in the bathroom?
No.

tbf in south Africa a warning shout is just as likely to be answered by gunfire.

To be fair, he's got 100+ pages of examples of charity work he's done, so that should count as sentence credit.... right?

Plus let's not forget his therapist's testimony, he's already been punished enough.

Sums it up really. The fact there was an 'intruder' in the house and he didn't even check if his girlfriend was in the bed beside him is what amazes me the most. Surely that would be the first thing you do, if you were innocent party in this situation.

The judge definitely seems to be on his side but I doubt she'd dare giving him a suspended sentance. Probably 3-5 years to get out in 2 years for good behaviour. I hope I'm wrong, this guy deserves to rot in prison.

i see today's news is about his charity work. i think it's disgusting that this is even mentioned. how this must make reeva's family feel, i don't know.

he's already got away with murder. if he had any sort of conscience, he should just take what's coming without saying a word.

Beyond a reasonable doubt!
What an utter disgrace, this scum bag is a cold blooded murderer and no matter what the outcome now this whole trial has been a complete an utter embarrassment to the 'so called' South African justice system

well, when he eventually gets off scott free, because lets face it, the show has only been put on to make money, lets just hope someone takes it upon themselves to deal justice in their own way. Makes me sick, this whole thing is absolutely disgusting, can only imagine the what Reeva's parents and family must be going through seeing this ***t smile, put on fake tears and generally walk in and out of court like he is some untouchable *****.
