Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd tell you about what I am doing this summer. Basically I will be spending 6 weeks in the house with the wife doing research on the various ways I can prevent myself from choking her in an attempt to save my sanity and my habitats which we've spent the last year creating. Depending on our findings, the bodily harm inflicted to her may be slight enough to avoid arrest.

There are 3 of us living in the house and we are all part of the human race that actually have jobs which help keep the chavs alive with free handouts.

Please give generously.

I'm not willing to fund you for equipment though, will pay for the games but the xbox has to come out of your own pcoket.

In all seriousness OP, presumably you're going to be doing fundraising above just asking OcUK, stuff like marathons, sky diving etc.

I will try to capture some of it on my compact camera, but the quality is rubbish I haven't seen the film but I think I've heard of it haha

Yep, asking here was just to see if anyone would like to help us but I didn't expect much if anything. Most funding will be through other activities, to be honest I don't like asking money for nothing type thing (like a good or personal service in return) because I know peoples aggressive reactions, prefer putting on something such as a gig, but I thought I'd try anyway since I've seen fundraising posts on here before.

I'd be amazed if there is anything not known about the Amazon in Peru that a bunch of students on a bargain holiday will be able to tell the established science community.

That's such a ridiculously short sighted view. Every top scientist, actually almost every scientist regardless of achievement, has at one point been a student. Student scientists require situations where they can learn and expand their knowledge and the world needs scientists. Also it's pretty widely acknowledged that a lot of the best research is done very early in scientific careers.

But it shouldnt be funded by charitable donations.

But why not if the donators believe in the cause and like what they are doing?

At the end of the day it's the donators money, the donators choice and they can fund whatever they want.
