I thought it was something like that, but I have no clue where to go. I ended my last game hopelessly lost trying to find the map warp point. I spent about 45 minutes walking in the what turned out to be the wrong direction, since I'm now looking out over a big drop-off that is in the direction I think I need to go but that I can't get down.
Whilst I'm liking some of the different things this game feels and how it just dumps you, a normal guy, in this wilderness and says "okay, you figure it out". BUT I don't feel I have the time to spend my gaming sessions wondering aimlessly around a mostly-empty map. I'm now a bit disheartened and the thought of having to trudge slowly all the way back and then try to orient myself properly is not pulling me back into the game.
C'mon guys, I get this is a "no hand-holding" experience here, but just one or two QoL features would be nice! Or if we are going to have this big rolling empty wilderness, at least give us some more usable landmarks or orienteeting tools! I spent much of my youth navigating unknown places with an Ordinance Survey map and a compass (back when people actually used maps!
), and I found that a lot easier than finding my way anywhere in this game!
It feels like the only option is to go everywhere until you just recognise the landscape sufficiently. I ain't got time for that!
