Overclocking an i7 920 D0 - 4.7GHz

Me neither, I was actually surprised how many case fans the Antec 1200 actually has in it: 3 at the front, 3 at the back and a huge 200mm fan at the top! Almost looks like overkill, but it is keeping everything cool inside at all times, which can only be a good thing when I have both the CPU & GPU overclocked

I really dont know what QPI voltage is currently set at, it must be the same one that was used for the 3.6 OC speeds, so I assume its set at 1.3V, the same as yours. I can go to that speed, but with the heat generated its just not worth going that far

Unrelated to the thread Rich but,
When will you lads be fully moved to NC/hows the move going (bigger front shop area? :p)?
Only ever been up there driving about, dont actually know the area. Any train stations near the new shop? God help you if i have to actually walk far...

Was far enough walking from longton platform for me ;)

What is your current chip then Shikyo? I really do love my D0 chip I must admit, knowing that I could crank it up another 200mhz to 4.2 if I ever did require that much ;)

I did think about going onto water, but the fact of the matter is that firstly it is expensive, I dont feel like its worth going that far with the excellent cooling I have with the Antec, and I wouldnt be confident enough to fit it all together myself, im really happy with what I got now.

I am just trailling my system at the moment with the case fans on high instead of medium. If I can put up with the noise, up goes the CPU to at least 4.2. I might go higher, but not sure if that would be wise as rjkoneill didnt test it past that point, so going higher I would be on my own :(

Might need an answer from rjkoneill to see how high he thinks I can go with my chip, and the voltages to use going past the 4.0 I am currently sitting on

Finally managed to work out how to add a signature, now everyone can see my specs :)

I am tempted to try and live with the high case fan speeds. Now then, how high can my i7 go past the 4.2 speed, any ideas how high I should be going?

if you wanted to add a watercooling setup to your rig at any time - the best thing would be to call system support and ask to speak with me

i would sort the loop out for you

i doubt it would give you higher clocks though

Thats what I was thinking, I very much doubt a watercooling solution would do my current system any good for the time being due to my case fans giving me all the cooling that I need. I have adjusted the case fans onto high setting, and did not notice much difference in the noise, so I will probably be changing my system upto 4.2, but not sure if its worth going much further than that, would you say I could go further than 4.2 rjkoneill?

been doing a bit of product development at the moment on a new bundle for the site

expect good things - will post up more later :)

Just got my D0 and currently 4ghz is stable. I did try a blck of 220mhz and it booted fine but crashed during LinX. I could never get anything above 211 to boot before.

To rjkoneill: what settings did you use on the Biostar to achieve higher than 4ghz clocks?

Edit: currently at 4.095ghz

there are no train stations any where near the new shop, no bus routes either, you will have to get someone to give you a lift, the shop is 400yds off the kidsgrove/newcastle turn off of the A500, heading towards newcastle
