Overused movie sound effect

It's because there are sound effect companies that sell sound effect sets.

It is extremely rubbish.

Even George Lucas has said that it was rubbish and would love to destroy every bootleg copy of it. He basically left it for someone else to do. Big mistake.

Yeah, the door opening in Doom was the first one I thought of....although it was probably a stock effect and not original to Doom at all. It will always be the "Doom door" to me though

The cat screaming/yelling in every comedy ever made. If someone falls into a trash bin or something is thrown off the screen, you hear this sound:

There is a particular gate opening and closing sound which is used in every game and movie ever.

I also notice whenever they add door closing sound effects in TV shows. They use the same ones on every door.
